  • Flea Market find. Found one on Amazon selling for $20. I got it for $4.

Not huge but the one I am currently using is in bad shape.

      • A coworker took my advice and refi their mortgage from 30 years (28 years remaining) to a 20 year mortgage, with just having to pay the appraisal fee.

finally, someone listened to my advice.

the selling point was them seeing the difference in interest amounts over time in the amortization schedule.

            • Our house was paid off in July and it has been so nice not to have that payment. Even though I am putting the house payment away(plus a few bucks more) I still seem to have more money!! Of course, it could be I've got a kid off to college and that's helping a little too. But for once it seems like we don't always have to worry about money, I'm liking this!!

Oh duh, and DH got a raise so there's that too. Don't know how I forgot???

              • Ok. This is stupid. And may make me sound elitist or something. But, for the first time I can ever remember, I used coupons at a store today and saved $20 doing so. I felt really weird or self conscious about doing it, but I was so happy to have saved the money! I'm starting to really see how broken my brain has been around $$$, so I'm calling that a win.

Remember that you're on a forum where we feel elitist about folks who DON'T use coupons. So welcome to the "cool, superior-feeling, frugal kids club!" (kidding . . . sort of)

Good job with the coupons! Yes, it's definitely a win!

                    • Youth Size Shoes (only works if you can fit in to youth sizes):

I've been needing to replace my walking shoes for awhile. I love Keens because of their quality and because I walk in all weather, even if it's raining.
I just ordered a pair of youth Keens for $55. Yes, I paid "full price." But the comparable shoe in womens size is $110.

This is the 3rd time I've purchased youth sized shoes instead of womens, and in all cases they were much less expensive that what I would have paid for adult shoes. And I'll be honest, I sometimes like the youth styles better. I caught on to buying youth size shoes a few years ago. Wish I'd figured it out earlier!

Funny! But unfortunately I don't usually see blinky lights in the "Big Kids" (think teen) category where I can shop, only in the "Little Kids." If only my feet were smaller . . .

Makes you wonder how many people would do without because it's "expensive". We do stuff like this all the time. I am just annoyed it took me so long to figure it out i could work it out for probably $0 out of pocket.
sold! $150 (Basically a $0 rental for something that made my life infinitely easier).

                              • This is more of a win for my daughter, but we were in line at Kohls to buy her some shoes and pants when I realized I forgot my 20% off coupon. They let you pick a scratch-off card at the register and my daughter picked the 30% one. Yay! And we found out today that she got straight A's and made high honor roll.
