"Citing Trump’s Order, IRS Stops Enforcing Individual Mandate for Health Insurance"

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service will no longer require tax filers to indicate whether they had health coverage or paid a penalty set under Obamacare,

Trump Signed an Executive Order and the IRS is going to honor it but not to the extent of the heading above.
IRS is not forcing taxpayers to disclose whether they carried medical insurance the prior year(s) on our tax returns.
BUT...they can inquire then issue a penalty because the Individual Mandate is still law.

To add my husband to my workplace plan last year was $425 a mo. and it was really just catastrophic coverage.
I could've gotten an HSA but I had alot of Chiropractic needed so passed on it since the other plan provided for it at $15 a visit
This year I'll go that route since my company donates $160 a month to it. He still won't have health insurance but some funds to use for medical care

This year for both of us- I bought an accident policy that pays a set amount$$ for certain issues that arise, no matter how the bill was paid.
Plus a critical illness policy, life insurance, dismemberment, & dental insurance. All for under $70.
Interesting we can afford all of these plans but not typical medical insurance for him (unless I stop contributing to the 401k)

Cool!! That's about what we save once a month shopping at our local Holiday Market. Except we redeem it in the form of a large peperoni pizza

        • I've been looking into getting a therapy swing for my autistic son. The one I chose runs about $200. Found it on sale last week for $89.

Now I just have to find a beam in the ceiling to hang it from...

          • While doing my 2016 taxes I found out the 2014 Cadillac ELR I bought in 2016 qualifies for the Colorado Innovative Motor Vehicle Tax Credit since it wasnt registered in CO by the original owner. Getting about $4500 back that I didnt know I was going to get!

            • Here are some of the movie discounts that I have been enjoying lately:

If you are a customer of AT&T, you can get a buy one ticket, get one free on Tuesdays deal.

You have to get a code and then buy the ticket online so there is a service charge to buy the tickets in advance (but, they don't charge the service charge for the free ticket).

Also, one of our local AMCs has weekday tickets (before noon shows) for $6.49 .

There is a big payoff once you reach age 55

DH and I are both seniors now, and one of the art house cinemas in our area has $5.50 senior tickets all day on Wednesdays. (Normal ticket prices are 11.50)

We also frequent another theater which features "Baby Boomer Thursdays" where tickets are $7.00 for those over 55 (all day Thursdays.)

                • Well whether or not that's a win depends entirely on what you started with. More than once, I've walked out of the casino with hundreds of dollars but I wasn't a winner because it was less than I had arrived with.

I had a win yesterday. I am not a recreational shopper. If I go to the store, it is typically to get something specific. Yesterday, I had a few minutes to kill while my wife was shopping in another store so I went into TJ Maxx, a place we never go. I headed straight for the clearance rack and actually found a pair of cold weather exercise leggings. I wear them when I run outside. I own one pair that I bought full price at a sporting goods store ($49). This was a different brand but will do just as good a job for me. They were marked down to $12. I've been wanting a 2nd pair but didn't want to spend another $49 so this was a perfect find.

I learned long ago that gamblers tend to only tell you about their wins. Nobody ever posts the picture of the cashout voucher for $0.47 when they started with $100.

Ahhh! Now, I'm disappointed. I thought maybe you put a nickel in the slot machine and you had a big payoff!

                        • My weekend win was saving on gas and wear & tear on the car by NOT going to the grocery store.

Several months ago, while critiquing our grocery shopping habits, I noticed that we were making some grocery store runs just because we had run out of milk. So I started keeping a can of evaporated milk in the pantry as backup. Yesterday I ran out of milk and switched to the evaporated.

                          • We're going away for 3.5 weeks soon, and I just found someone to rent our apartment. We agreed they'll pay for the electricity they use, so I don't need to worry about them using the a/c the whole time.

This morning I found the charger I need for my iPhone on clearance for $.99 at the drugstore. Those things never seem to last long. I bought the 5 that they had

                              • My husband finally got a raise for the promotion he earned 6 months ago. Not as much as I think he should have received, but $6,000 is $6,000. We are also getting the largest bonus as of yet. It is all going towards the down payment on a new house, though. Ok, maybe just a little for our trip in a few weeks.
