There’s good reason why historically recessions typically happen during Republican administrations and recoveries during Democratic ones.

Stimulus money while needed caused a massive inflation. I'm not sure what's about to happen. Smarter people than I can't even predict if inflation is going to go back up.

PPP loans, IRA (inflation reduction act), multiple stimulus payments, student loan forgiveness, all broke the camels back.

Let's be honest, neither party can really claim that they're not guilty of wildly excess spending, creating both positive and negative influences throughout the economy. The last time the country didn't run a massive deficit was back in the 90s, for a single year under Clinton. Before that? I don't even know. The only real differences are in what they choose to spend on with the country's absurd largesse. Make me king for a day? Constitutional amendment prohibiting deficit spending.

Smarter people than both of us have already predicted inflation will rise sharply in coming years because of tariffs and deporting immigrant labor. I don't want that, and I hope the predictions are wrong, but this is pretty simple cause/effect. The defecit is supposed to go way up. I have no confidence in anything good that could happen because we've seen a good preview of this already.

You gotta wonder...why do people care so much about elected officials who don't care about you? Heck, they don't even know who you are. What a tribal society we live in. Always an us vs them. My team is better.

People have lost their minds. Everyone is depressed. Everyone is angry. Everyone is trying to one up someone else. Keyboard warriors wasting their time trying to convince someone their team is the only way. Relationships suffering. What a mad world we live in.

Because they have such a profound effect on the trajectory of our country, and whittled down, things like personal finance, and healthcare coverage and the cost of healthcare, and interest rates on homes, and the price of goods, and energy independence/availability, sovereignty over our own bodies. All things that significantly affect you and me in our daily lives whether we care about those officials or subscribe to their policies or not. These kinds of headwinds affect personal choice and wealth.

So please, your surprise is your own, the rest of us have every right to be concerned and wondering about the future.

I think that for many they are hoping to be shown something greater. That the decision they made makes their lives better. I saw a exit poll saying 73% of people said their life in 2024 November was harder than in 2023 November. That means most people feel it's gotten harder. So they want something better and more.

This is a political forum disguised as a financial one. That's too bad. Again, stay outraged and hope for the worst. America voted and it was a landslide. More people wanted a change than not. It's pretty simple. Don't let politics infect your brain. You want to make a positive change...go volunteer in your community. A lot of people locally need help. Make an impact in your community. Donate some sweat equity. You guys will feel better.

Until then, for the few active members here...enjoy yourselves. I'll go somewhere else where people want to participate in finances. You guys have it down here so no need to ever engage in financial topics. Over and out.

QMM, that second screenshot conveniently ignores the part about who pays the tariffs. You and I do and every other customer buying the goods. Some would have you believe that the foreign country pays them which is nonsense. The end consumer pays them which is why tariffs are inflationary.
