Certain family members have a pretty good idea of my finances, and one particular family member has no idea about some aspects of my finances, but knows most of the rest.

Last year there were several very young new teachers here, and I was fairly open with them about some of the financial mistakes I've made and things I wish I'd figured out at their age. Otherwise, I don't share too much about my finances (although I have talked with some coworkers about saving for something -- their response, "Navajos don't save", and there is one co-worker who like me, tends to forget that it's payday until somebody reminds us ...)

My family is terrible with money, so even if I did tell them about my money situation, I doubt they would understand it or really care. I do know that they are very impulsive at times, and you can trust them to be not smart with money. They have a heart of gold, but a brain filled with stupid in money matters.

My wife is so extremely oblivious to finances. On the up side, she is very good at not wanting things. So if we ever have to make lifestyle changes, it won't be so much of a problem.

To answer the original question, so I don't purposefully hide anything from family. They just don't care.
