  • Current spot price of rhodium is $4250 an ounce, but a 1 oz bar sells for $5850. The dealer will buy it though from you for $3900.

      Sounds like a great “investment”

      * Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.

      • Ha-ha, and I thought platinum had a high mark up of $70 over spot. Rhodium takes the cake.

        • I thought of this thread as I was listening to an ebay seller podcast today. The guest told a story of she and her husband buying a storage unit at auction a few years ago. Inside among other things they discovered that the previous owner collected silver. All together, the unit contained 100 pounds of silver bars/ingots/whatever they're called. She didn't say how much they sold everything for but I'm sure it was magnitudes more than they paid for the unit which was probably a couple hundred dollars.

                    • Am I the only one who is worried about this? We diversify asset classes but put all of our eggs in one basket, king dollar. Frosted might be on to something stashing silver bars.

                        • Took some profits today by selling $40,000 worth of SLV (the silver ETF). Profit of about $4000. At one point in time I was down about $5000. Not sure why I had bought the paper silver when I like the real silver which I can hold in my hands. Now I can buy more real silver.

                            • Good question. Maybe 5 years so maybe 2% a year. Not on par with equities by a long shot.
