  • I got a sizeable federal refund (courtesy of having solar panels installed) and spent about half of it on paying off the gutters. Yay!! We still have the other half of the refund left, but we haven't decided on that, yet. But I can't stop smiling. LOL!

    • Guys - was able to max out my Roth IRA contributions for 2024, and got a head start on 2025.

      • QMM likes to share his casino wins. Here are two of my recent ebay wins.

Bought a book at an estate sale on 4/6 for $2.50. Sold it on Friday for $85.00.
Bought a book at a thrift shop on 4/9 for $2.00. Sold it today for $49.00.

It's like my own personal casino right in my house, and I never lose money. No free drinks though.

            • We pay for SiriusXM. Our promotional $6/mo rate expired and was set to increase to $23/mo. I went to cancel knowing they’d offer me a lower a price. I got the $6/mo rate for another year. This was great bc had they not, we would have paid full freight. SiriusXM is non-negotiable for my husband.

I also made a very stupid mistake and made a payment thinking I was using our main checking account but turned out it was against my personal checking account where I only keep $500 (bc I almost never use it). I got a $10 overdraft fee but I called and had it removed.

Little wins but it all adds up!

              • I'm currently in Arizona and came mainly for the Bet MGM $1500 bonus offer where MGM would reimburse $1500 if the bet loses. I bet $1500 on the over 8.5 total points on the Cubs vs Cardinals game and the final score was Cubs 6, Cardinals 7. So my bet won and I won't need the bonus offer, sweet.

                  • I am pretty sure I'll owe tax on that win which was about a $1427 win, so roughly 25% of that amount I'm saving to pay it later. But 16 coworker on Tuesday will get $10 each for lunch, and 5 nieces & nephews will get $50 each, so there goes another $160 + $250, gone. But I like to share the wealth when I can. But if I had debts or no emergency funds or no investments by all means I would first pay down my debts or build up an emergency fund, etc.

If you had debts and no EF you shouldn’t be betting $1,500 on a baseball game.

                        • My bet above for $1500 was over 8.5 total points at -105 house vigorish (which paid $1428.57). The score was Cubs 4, Cardinals 3 at bottom of the 7th. There was a Cardinals runner on base. The batter hit a base hit to left field. The runner rounded 3rd base and was determined to make it home. The throw was on target and the catcher positioned himself for the tag at home plate. The runner dove head-first with his arms stretched out to tag home plate. The catcher turned around with the ball to tag but reached out too far and his glove went in between the runners arms as the runner touched home plate. The umpire called "safe," but Cubs asked to challenge the call so they went to replay. In replay the call stood so the score was tied at 4. At this point I knew that I would win the bet. Anyone who knows baseball would not need any further explanations. But for those who doesn't know baseball, I'll explain. There are no ties in baseball unless the teams agree to a tie due to weather or some other extenuating circumstances. Therefore, either team would have to score at least 1 more point to win the game either in regular innings or it would have to go to extra innings. The outcome of my bet was determined though in the same bottom of the 7th innings where the Cardinals scored more points catapulting the total points to about 11 total points cementing my $1428 win. If let's say that I had lost the bet MGM would have reimbursed my $1500 which would have been good for 1 more bet but luckily for me that I didn't have to cross that bridge. These promotions are sweet. I would do it again if MGM or Caesar's would allow and I would drive the 5 hours back to Arizona to do it all over again.

                            • Here is a win - I've been scanning a bunch of my receipts, which give me Amazon credits, - at the end of the month I should have enough credit to get more silver rounds.
