I currently pay an extra $97.10/month toward principal. That rounds it off to an even dollar amount in case you're wondering where that number came from. For our last payment, $588.06 went to principal. Using that figure, we'd be done in 7 years. It will actually be less since the amount going to principal goes up slightly each month. I'm also hopeful that once my wife's van is paid off, we'll be able to throw more at the mortgage. We pay $400/month on the car (which is more than the actual payment).

* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.

I just crossed the 200k mark which is pretty exciting to me. Started with a balance of 262,500 in 2011 and is now down to 199,653 as of today. Currently paying an additional 1200/mo and hoping to get it paid off in 5-6 more years.

Kudos to the addition 1200/mo and party time for crossing 200K!
