Avoid payday loans at all cost. Eventually those get very hard to pay back.

My advice sell something (or many things) to accumulate the cash you need. Also do side jobs, mow some lawns for example. Borrow a mower if needed, pay for the fuel and fill up when you return it.

I agree that the first choice would be to not borrow that small an amount.

If for some reason you truly need $400 in a hurry, I think the best option would be to take a cash advance on a credit card if you have one available to you. The rate will be high but it's far better than a payday loan or title loan.

Another option if you have a bit more time would be a peer to peer lending site like prosper.com. However, if you have the time for that, you probably have the time to avoid that.

Yes, avoid the payday loan people - or anything that looks like a payday loan. They'll fleece you by charging you several hundred percent interest.

If all you need is $400, your best bet is to sell some of your stuff. Hold a garage sale, sell some of your books, games, DVD's etc.
