  • Target Credit Card = 5% off

Target just announced that if you use their store credit card or the Target VISA to shop at Target this fall, you'll get an automatic 5% off on all purchases. Seems like a good deal to me. For some reason I'm having trouble linking to it, but you can read my review by clicking the link below (My Blog).

    What do others think?

It sounds like a good deal, especially that it is 5% off at time of purchase rather than a 5% rebate or cashback deal. Of course, since you say the card is currently unavailable, this is only useful info for folks who already have the card. We shop at Target a lot but don't have the card. I wouldn't go out and get a new CC just to take advantage of a limited time offer like this. Now if they came out and said that from now on, card holders will always get 5% off, I might consider getting the card but I wouldn't bother if it is only for a couple of months.

I tend to think of every card offer as time limited (some more than others of course). You can still get the Target credit card (only usable at Target), you just can't get the Target VISA.

I get 5% cash back all the time with my discover card.

How? My Discover card does quarterly 5% cash back promos for different things, like gas or restaurants or hotels but it isn't all the time on the same types of charges.

This is highly inaccurate else I am using the wrong cards. Discover offers a tiered program with up to 1% reward on all purchases along with the 5% rotating rewards that usually have a low max on the reward (like $400 in purchase at home improvement stores for this quarter). That's my understanding, but I could be wrong.

Sorry I should have elaborated. I normally shop online and not at the retail stores. As long as you go through the "shopdiscover" link on the discover card website you'll get 5% cashback.

I always forget about shopdiscover. I'll have to check out the retailer options.
