I lived in a travel trailer for 15 months while my husband worked full time and worked on our house at night! I have no mortgage!

My personal hope is a combination. I want to pay off the mortgage I have (I bought small and cheep) then buy the land I want, pay it off or pay cash for it. Then build the house I want, paying cash as I go. Hopefully in 20 years or so I will have the house I want (hopefully as nice as Ima's) and have it paid for!

Those are some interesting choices. And life's about choices, eh?

Our personal preference was to buy a size that we appreciated and knew we'd grow into, all while working towards a shorter term mortgage. Now, with only 13 years left on our mortgage, our mortgage is basically on auto-pilot, and we can focus on investments. Although in hind-sight, we should have done it the other way around.
