  • Man Buys $8000 Worth Of Forever Stamps

Someone walked into the post office in Camp Hill the other day and bought $8,000 worth of Forever Stamps.

The Forever Stamp is a 41-cent stamp that debuted last month. If you buy one, you can use it now and forever -- no matter where the cost of a stamp soars.

"It's not really designed to be an investment," said Mark Hnasko, a spokesman for the U.S. Postal Service in central Pennsylvania.

Yes but this man will never have to buy a 2c stamp again. That may be his motivation!

I haven't bought any forever stamps and probably won't. But I do understand the annoyance of dealing with the continual increases.

let's see... i mail maybe 5 things every calendar year, so it would take me 1600 years to use that many stamps. GOOD GRIEF!

Actually, you should buy nothing but forever stamps. That way, you know they are always good for current postage, whatever that may be. I also use very few stamps, but as a result, I've been stuck with stamps many times when the rates changed. I've still got $.37 stamps in my drawer and the rate has changed twice since then. If they were forever stamps, I wouldn't have to bother with the $.02 stamps each time, first adding one, now two to the envelopes.

I took a bunch of old stamps into our local post office and exchanged them for newer ones. Not all post offices will do this.
I bet when they announce the next postal increase there will be a run on the forever stamps.
