  • Frustrating!

I checked my 40K about 6 weeks ago and it was around 43K, today it is around 40K. I know there are fluctuations and it will bounce around but it is disheartening to see a loss. Not to mention I feel like I'm 'behind' in my retirement savings so to see it go go down feel terrible!

Don't let your emotions ride up and down with the value of the 401k. It's value when you retire is far more important than it's value today. Keep thinking long term and only worry about the things you have control over, like the contribution level.

I would be grinning from ear to ear if my 401K were only down 7% in the last 6 weeks.

Things can't always go up. Just see this time as a "sale" of stocks as people have mentioned before on this board, and you'll be okay.
