  • Nvidia buy, sell, or hold?

Known for its graphics cards for gaming, they are now one of the leading AI generators. Stock is at all time highs but some say they have more room to grow. Who you buy, sell, or hold? I might try $5000 - $10,000. I'm usually late to a party but sometimes late is better than never.

Examples of Nvidia's graphics cards. Computer builders & gaming enthusiasts are very familiar with Nvidia. As a layperson, I am not familiar with Nvidia but I did build my own computer in 2012 and became familiar with it but never used one.

a split has nothing to do with the value of a company

Yup my 3 shares are profitting $849. I'll let it ride a bit more, hopefully.

Today $1199, should tip over to $1200 soon.

And? Is there some significant difference between $1199 and $1200?

Ha-ha, not really just psychologically gratifying. Then next $1300 so on and so forth.

Picked up a bit more of the stock pre split.

I'll pick up more after the split since it is easier to buy a $120 stock vs a $1200 stock.

... Which is really the only purpose of a split. It means nothing about a company's strength, status, outlook, or any other meaningful consideration. It simply makes it easier for people to acquire shares with a smaller buy-in. Perhaps the one benefit that it has for the company is that it allows for a greater number & diversity of shareholders, because instead of (for example) 400k outstanding shares, you have 2M shares. So it's possible for more people to get shares, if the "supply" was constrained.

I believe the only large company to have never done a stock split is BRK.A ... which is why their base share price is $620k.

Stock splits are gradually becoming less relevant as the ability to purchase fractional shares spreads. I don’t think it’s super common yet but it does exist now.
