  • Is the Fed done raising rates?

    What's everyone's take on this?

I'm wondering if now would be a good time to lock in some good rates on some longer term CD's, treasuries, etc.

Rates peaked a few months ago so you’ve already missed the top. Even if the Fed raises rates more, the market has already adjusted for rates being stable or moving down going forward.

This is why the best answer is generally to ladder your fixed income holdings. I’ve got things maturing at least every 3 months through 2026 and every month this year. Then I get to reinvest at whatever the prevailing rates are.

It seems that the Fed is going to hold rates steady for a little while (most likely), or at most raise rates one last quarter-point then let it ride. But as Steve said, fixed income rates have already begun to drift downward ... But it's still a good time (relative to recent history) to lock in good rates if desired.

Agree, next months meeting they'll hold. I only hope they don't start lowering the rate anytime soon though. I'd like to get two more of my CD's at 5% for awhile. Yes, I'm greedy. If the Fed's did anything but hold next month it would be a huge deal.

I hope they are done raising rates- at least for a while.

Howdy y'all, Sure seems like the Fed might've done with the rate hikes for a spell. If you're lookin' to wrangle in some rates for your CDs and such, now might be the right time. But like ol' Steve and kork13 said, you can't ever be too sure with these things. They're like a bull in a china shop, unpredictable as all get out. I reckon the best strategy might just be to ladder them investments of yours, so you got a steady stream comin' in. Kinda like plantin' your crops in different seasons, you know? Just my two cents, of course. Y'all take care now!
