Precious metals have never been a part of our portfolio.

I am going to add to my position while silver is in the mid teens. I would look to ditch it when it gets back in the high 20s.

My current pm to other investment percentage is around 33% at the moment but I've had it as high as 1/2 my net worth, it is my bank account, I keep no cash and less than $1000 in the bank

I just dumped my palladium holdings and only hold silver and gold now
retired in 2009 at the age of 39 with less than 300K total net worth

We own a gold and precious metals mutual fund in one of my wife's retirement accounts. It represents well under 5% of our portfolio.

Is that the actual metal, or is it mining companies?

Two 5g gold bars and six 1oz silver coins, as curios and to satisfy my desire to actually own gold and silver.

That would by necessity include the miners.

If you want a "mutual fund" that is based on spot price, that would be etf SLV for silver, and GLD for gold.

The fund "invests in stocks of companies that provide exposure to gold and other precious metals."

Just scored 2 walking Liberty silver half dollars that DH brought from an overseas trip last month. His overseas friends sometimes give him their US coins because they consider them "clutter." DH had no idea what these coins were. He gave them to me because he hates carrying coins. Glad he didn't buy a pack of gum with them.

Percentage of my portfolio in precious metals? 0.

Lucky score. I used to get rolls of quarters and dimes, and would sometimes find some. I haven't found any in a while now so I stopped. I think too many people know about it.

You would be surprised how many people would come into the gas station I used to work at and buy a gallon of gas with silver coins. I think they had to raid their piggy banks to get to work. Lucky for them, I would get my father in and he would give them a fair price for their silver.

I don't count PM's in my portfolio. They are just there in case I need them.

                          0%

I don't see any need for them in a balanced portfolio.

I don't personally invest into it, but might at some point. I'm also not ready to invest into individual stocks from a financial perspective.

I wish I would have invested into AMD last year like I thought about. One year ago they were $2.21/share. Today they are up to $10.58 and should be growing more due to coming out with new hardware that is actually going to be competition for Intel. I would suspect the stock will go up a lot again this year.
Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.

Speaking as someone who's exclusively used AMD CPUs since 2000, "I've heard that before"...
