Ally just dropped their rate to 0.8%. No surprise but I hate seeing that email every time it comes.
I know there aren't any great options out there for cash right now.

* Despite the high cost of living, it remains very popular.
* Why should I pay for my daughter's education when she already knows everything?
* There are no shortcuts to anywhere worth going.
That's why equity market goes up and up. Look at AMC, reported 98.7% revenue drop YOY but stock has gone up 20% since earnings..lol.
They just announced their reopening plans starting this month so I'm sure that's helping too.

People don't read financial reports. They have lost more money than their actual cash on hand so I don't know how they are still solvent. AMC needs a buy out life line from Disney or something. But Disney is currently not in the position to buy anything.

I think the theater business is on borrowed time. It will be interesting to see how Disney's experiment with Mulan goes. How many people will pay $30 to get home access through Disney+? I haven't decided if we will or not but we probably will. $30 for the 3 of us to watch a brand new movie really isn't a bad price. And my understanding is that you will maintain access to it for as long as you have your Disney+ subscription. And Disney+ allows up to 10 screens per account so you could charge a few friends to watch it on your account to offset the cost if you want to.

It's actually a money loser and the outrage is unreal about it. People have a hard time understanding economics and Disney is doing this not because they are "greedy" but desperate as most of the production cost is on borrowed money. The longer it sits, the more of a dead weight it becomes. The minute this movie is out, half of China would rather pirate it than to watch it since it'll be in 4k HD(not some crappy cam). This is all a major risk for Disney.
Hopefully movie theaters are here to stay as it's a relatively cheap way for families to go out. There are very few things the middle class can enjoy outside of a park/playground that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.

I don't think it's greedy at all. I think $30 to be able to watch a new release in the comfort of my home and not have to deal with a theater is perfectly reasonable. I control the volume. I get a comfy seat. I get whatever snacks I'd like at a normal cost. I can pause the movie if I need a break. The floor isn't sticky. Nobody is sitting in front of me, talking, or texting throughout the show. And I don't have to worry about catching COVID.
We actually have cousins who we often do a movie night with at their place. We may do that for Mulan if they're interested. That way it will be 5 people for $30. Tough to beat that, and they have a much larger screen than we do.

Well most people don't have a state of the art theater system. I would say there are many blockbusters that require the big screen to get the most enjoyment out of them. My co-worker hated Tron Legacy. He didn't see it on the big screen is the reason why. That movie was an experience.

Before dolby atmos, when demonstrating my sub I'd use blu rays Tron: Legacy, and opening of Saving Private Ryan. Amazing sound for experience.

We were talking about this at work a little while ago. One of my coworkers said she has no desire to go to a theater when she can watch a movie at home. She doesn't have a big screen or a fancy sound system. Just a normal basic set up. But she'd still rather watch at home. I think more and more people feel that way.
