  • Thoughts on 1 time withdrawal CD?

I noticed Ally offers a CD with a 1 time no penalty withdrawal. Is this a good place to save money when the use of this money will be a large purchase (ex: house) within 6 months to 3 years? Or is there another better way?

As long as the rate is competitive, I think that is just fine.

For savings you'll need in less than 2 years, a money market/online savings account will probably give you a better rate. At 3 years, a CD makes sense.

penfed.org generally has the best CD rates these days.
