  • What were you all saying about silver again?

Not really an investment? 10% of your portfolio at maximum?

I've been stacking since $14 an oz. I will keep buying until $50+
if I need extra cash I can always sell a few ounces.. After paying my monthly mortgage and other bills, I'm keeping most of my extra money in silver and gold. No point in keeping extra money in currency that is devaluing every day as the fed prints more money out of thin air. My goal is to make enough profit to pay off my house entirely. (house is only one year old, and I'm 35 btw)

I know, I Know. . .but what fun is money if you are just going to hoard it and not smoke a Cuban cigar rolled in the thighs of virgins?

          Lol!

Excellent call on silver... but remember, it is not a profit until you have sold, and by how bullish you are sounding, as a contrarian I say it must be time to sell

I have been in many stocks that ran up massively, but then I didn't take profits and I lost them back. This may be the case with silver, as, although you were tremendously correct to be buying when you did, I will reserve my true praise until you sell it. Perhaps put in a trailing stop-loss order?

Oh, absolutely it's time for a trailing stop-loss order. I speak even as an investor, knowing you are a trader. Even investors have to sell sometimes.

I bought SLV at $13.65. . .I've nearly tripled my money as an investor and this is what I know about silver. . .when it corrects, if it corrects (let's say more than 20% defining a correction) it's going to correct ruthlessly. I wouldn't be surprised at a 10%-15% drop in one day.

There are some who say there is a bubble here but the Anti-Bubblists say, "Well, there can't be a bubble because only 1.5% of the population owns any gold or silver. Contrast that to real estate or mortgages. . .or even Dot Com stocks. . ."

There may be a vein of truth in that analysis. . .what constitutes a bubble and what doesn't. . .

PS: And I am not "bullish" - at $28/oz, I didn't advise to buy, I just advised "Hold". . .so that was a mistake in a way. . .if you had all gone out and bought at $28/oz, you'd have a profit. Still, I wasn't sure the risk was commensurate with even the current reward.

. . .now I am not so sure. . .supplies are coming in and up, but investment demand is matching supply. . .they are also stating that the recycled market isn't there anymore, but who knows. . .it may come back. I can remember getting postcards when I first in practice for silver recovery firms for my old x-rays. . .don't see those solicitations anymore since everythign has pretty much gone digital with x-rays.

there is a silver shortage and paper silver has much less physical silver backing it than many believe, for the past 3 settlement months the comex has not been able to deliver physical to the longs Standing for delivery. last month they paid over $50/oz. to settle contracts THEY HAD NO SILVER TO DELIVER!!!!!, . eventually the price of paper silver and physical silver will totally unhinge. you already see it when you go to buy an oz of physical, its always at least $2 over the market spot price......

                  Now you speak Silver-Bull-Speak.

Yes, I agree the backwardation being shown in silver is of a curious interest.

Well, if you are right, than my trailing stop-loss order will never get activated, right?

In 1998 and 2004 DH and I bought some silver coins both as a novelty and to give as gifts to kids. Three weeks ago we sold what we still had. Never really intended it as an investment...

I bought a 12 oz walking liberty coin today for about $38 per oz shipped.
I'm in it for the long haul..
Most of my IRA is in stocks, which are also doing well, but I like having some physical silver to play with.

If I didn't hate smoking so much I think I would make that a personal quote.

This is actually hilarious, love this thread! Looks like you caught the silver short squeeze and I gotta say it was a brilliant decision to get in when you did... I'm gonna sit back and watch the silver shorters get squeezed, not going to buy any SLV b/c I am a contrarian, but it is fun to watch.
