  • My bank statement and Capital One

I have a private matter question regarding opening up an account at Capital One. I have yet to open the account and I am VERY sensitive to what my bank statement will show.

I want to know exactly what my personal bank statement says when I transfer money from my bank to Capital One.

I don't care what it says on my Capital One statement, it's my other bank statement that I care about.

Does it say something different when I open the account (when they check to see if I have a valid account) vs. when I move $1000 from my bank to capital one?

    Thanks for the help.

Are you trying to move money around without someone else knowing?

I don't use Capital One, but in any case I'd just call them, explain the need for privacy and ask "What will it show on my bank statement?"

I actually called them twice and I got the same answer. "I don't know, I never had that question before". They then put me on hold and made several calls with no luck.

They were very nice, but were not confident.

My Emigrant Direct acct shows the following from the verification deposits:
            CAPITAL1 VERIFY YOURNAME

My Discover Bank acct from a transfer shows:
            CAPITAL1 xxxxxxx FEE 00.00

Thanks. That was not what I was hoping for. Since you have Emigrant Direct, does Emigrant Direct say anything differently?

              Thanks

I haven't done a transfer from CapitalOne to EmigrantDirect yet, but I have done a pull using CapitalOne from my local checking account and it showed this in my online banking local account:
ACH FEE $00.00 xxxxxxx CAPITAL1 xxxxxxx

I'm sorry, I wrote a poor question. When you move money from your local back to Emigrant what does your local bank statement say regarding Emigrant?

                  Thanks again.

Re: My bank statement and Capital One

If my bank statement showed a transfer of money to someplace I did not understand such as CAP1023400#04, I would certainly call the bank to determine where the money went.

If you are trying to hide a transfer of money from your spouse for whatever reason don't you think they will be able to track where that money went?

Your better option may be to do a withdrawal and purchase a money order to send to Capital One, since it would be much harder for a family member to track that transfer.

This seems very suspicious to me.
