    Not really FI though in the ballpark. Still working. When GF retires and moves to live with me, we'll have (er... we have combined as of today....) 1.5Mil in investments/retirement and she'll have a decent pension (she will be 56), so we will be effectively FI, and she will be RE. I'll RE at 60 (if you can call that RE).
    Don't torture yourself, thats what I'm here for.

      I retired in 2006 at 43 when my Roth IRA hit a certain target and was also totally burnt out from my menial job that year in and year out got worse. I subsequently sold my house in the city before the real estate bubble and currently live in the Ozarks on the lake.

        Can't FIRE without some major financial gains in the next 10-15 years. I am saving, but not nearly enough yet(income limitations and obligations of a family). That's part of why I've been absent lately, working on building a personal VM server to learn more systems. I am also gettings things in order to go back to my local tech school to get another certification. My goal is to be a sysadmin in the next 5 or so years. Hopefully less.
        Everything happens for a reason. Sometimes that reason is you're stupid and make bad choices.
