  • Where's the best place to hide money from my husband?

I find myself very difficult situation and I'm not sure what I should do. I'm hoping to get advice from some of the people here as to what the best steps would be. My husband and I are currently going through a divorce and I have found that he has raided most of our financial accounts and taken all the money out. I don't know if he has had the money or if you spent the money, but I have no idea where it is and how to find out about it.

There is one account that has about $50,000 in it which I ended up setting up for us while he was overseas. Since he did not raid this account, I think he may have forgotten about it or doesn't know about it. I'm afraid if he realizes the money is there, that he is going to take that money as well. My question is what can I do to keep this from happening? If I take the money out, where would be the best place to hide it so that he doesn't get his hands on it?

Take his name off of the account. He can't get to it if it isn't a joint account.

Also, bring up the issue to your divorce lawyer. Bring statements showing that he has been moving money out of your joint accounts in preparation for the divorce settlement. You can even talk to your bank, and they can provide the account numbers for the destination accounts (this may incur some minor costs for investigation, but worth it). The answer is not to hide money from your husband (scummy or not)--that takes you down to his level. Pick your battles, and fight them on your terms. You can deal with it legally, and if necessary, box his ears with it.
