  • 101 ways to save money -- what did you do today to save?

I'm not sure if this will take off or not, but I thought it might be interesting to begin a "what did you do today to save money" thread since the declutter thread like this did well in the past. I'm hoping that if members share the daily ways they do little things to save money, it can be inspirational to others and give everyone the opportunity to maybe find some new ways to save money that they never thought about before. With that in mind, what, if anything, did you do today to save money?

Ground turkey whole wheat spaghetti with fresh onions, green bell peppers, celery, and fresh mushrooms. Topped off with some Parmesan cheese.

Had to buy some new bandanas. Was going to buy them from an expensive trendy head shop, but found them online for $4.83 each including shipping and tax.

Gave my Ex a couple of camera cases I was no longer using.

Scrounged in the pantry and refrigerator for dinner to put off buying groceries one more day.

        Well, just this morning I:
        • biked to work
        • drank the free coffee provided by the office instead of stopping at a coffee shop

In a few hours I'll be eating my brown bag lunch instead of eating out.

heat with wood. From the tree to the fire I am involved in every step. It's like having a part time job except I enjoy doing it.

Went out to eat last night with a friend, but didn't eat my entire meal. Brought it home in a doggy bag and have my lunch for today.

Packed my lunch as I do every day.

Last night I had to go to a meeting after work and also packed my dinner instead of going out.

Except perhaps when buying a home, never take on debt and pay a penny in interest.

Ground turkey spaghetti with melted mozarrella cheese (day 3). Now I know how Fido felt (lol).

Made a large pot of lo mein noodles instead of picking up the $9 large serving from the Chinese take out. Spent about $1 on ingredients.

Well, no work means no gas spent, no eating out, shut cable TV off this month and buy in bulk now I like the idea of this thread, hoping to get some ideas.

Oh, I also cut all my dryer sheets in half (Learned it from this web site).

Am I the only one who doesn't use dryer sheets at all?
