  • What kind of obligations do you have?

    Hello everyone,

I have been lurking around on this site for awhile now. I finally decided to sign up.

I was curious as to what kind of recurring bills/obligations everyone has? For example, Netflix, Cable, Internet, Auto/Bike Insurance, Loans, Phone contracts, etc.

That's pretty good. I would have to imagine that most members of the site are the same.

Cable TV? I assume your using HULU or another internet service?

I don't have cable right now. My internet is slow which makes hulu annoying. I rent movies sometimes. I probably will get cable though once football season starts.

          Mortgage.

Everything else I could cancel tomorrow, if need be.

Of course, I think I will keep my life insurance, disability insurance, home, and vehicle insurance. Gas/Heat/Water? Ideally, through thick and thin.

We have cable, internet, and all that. Just no other debt payments. We pay a gardener and are currently paying for piano lessons for one child. Luxuries are fine - I just think it's best to not to lock ourselves in a corner with payments we can't get out of, is all. The mortgage I don't mind because it is cheaper than renting, and we can sell our home to pay it off (worst case), etc. It's the only commitment I don't mind. Of course, with that comes the property taxes, insurance, maintenance, etc.

Phone contract, internet, car insurance, mortgage/utilities. We don't have T.V. We watch the free version of Hulu sometimes.

Silly reply, but is it neccesary to ask on a website whether or not someone has internet service

Guess you could truck on down to the library to check on your posts.

Sorry to be dense, but are you asking what bills we have that are the same each billing period?

                      If so, then we have

                      mortgage
                      home insurance
                      landline & internet

                      health insurance
                      car insurance
                      water
                      recycling

                      sewer
real estate tax (roughly the same each time)
                      personal property tax (")
                      charity donations

I guess all other bills vary.

You pay to recycle? That's certainly a deterrent. We actually get paid to recycle because it saves the township a ton of money. The more people recycle, the less gets spent in waste removal costs. Our town uses RecycleBank (recyclebank.com) that gives us reward points redeemable for all kinds of coupons and discounts.

Yes, DisneySteve, it is a mandatory city fee, established this spring. It probably balances out with the relatively low real estate taxes we pay.
