  • Anybody using VOIP?

I had a nasty run-in with Verizon this morning and I'm about ready to kick them to the curb. I got a quote on VOIP from Speakeasy, but it was $23.95/month, including free long distance, voicemail, etc. I'll only save about $10/month if I switch, and my spouse is worried about the sound quality on VOIP.

I thought VOIP was supposed to be really cheap! That's not so very cheap.

Also, any comments on the quality?

    Anybody have providers to recommend?

    Thx in advance.

I made the switch on a second line in the house... Packet8 19.95 a month. Sound quality is great.

I use VOIP. I use Vonage and it saved us a bundle compared to what we paid for Verizon. I hated Verizon! And with free long distance to anywhere in the US and Canada, it is a good deal. Plus our families can call us at that number no matter where we are and we can keep in touch with them. To us, it is a great deal. Our lines are crystal clear when we call back home. My friend said it sounded like I was in the next room when I called her for the first time on it.
