Who watched Suze Orman tonite?

Not necessarily. Many rich, especially the 'old money' rich, try to keep things private.

I watched it! First~ Did you catch Suze's mouth DROP! My mouth dropped. But Suze was flustered! And I think Suze should have offered to take 'Jane' on as one of her clients. Or refer her to one of Suze's personal contacts. Clearly the woman trusts Suze, if she's calling in. And if this woman is related to a BIG NAME person (very likely), then this woman will become a big name and Suze would get attention by association. Not that Suze needs marketing at this point, but it never hurts.

If its really Texas the woman is calling from, then the family must be related to Anna Nicole Smiths deceased husband...another oil baron.

I absolutely love watching Suze Orman! About two months ago, we downgraded our satellite to the "family package" and now we don't have CNBC anymore.

This Suze talk makes me really miss it! I just hate to spend another $20 a month for one show! That is the only channel it airs on, isn't it?

Yeah, its only on CNBC. It's for sure on Sat nights, but I caught it playing one day during the afternoon a few days ago...So I guess they are starting to air re-runs?

Think I know who "Jane" is

I think she is using Jane as in Jane Doe, but lives in Texas.

It is Holly Ann Heston Rochell and Charlton Heston just died in April 2008 -- she has one brother (Fraser).

He was rich enuf to leave each child a lot and most to his wife.

She hadn't yet rolled over the 401K because it just happened in April 2008.

We watched the first half but I need to check my DVR for the 2nd half. I don't think we got to the $40 million person... only to the "make more out of less" sections

I love Suze... its actually one show my DH will watch with me cause I don't have too many shows that I watch.

Personally, I don't like Suze. Her personal finance advice may be good, but I think her investing advice is terrible. She recently said "I'm not sure you can buy and hold anymore...you have to be a very active investor..." When people are paid millions of dollars and they can't correctly predict market trends (with reliability), I don't know how she expects the average investor to.

My fiance and his whole family hate her because back in the day she was broke but acting like a millionaire. My fiances family lives in NY, and the father works in the financial industry. Once he saw the way she was living and the way she was acting, he was disgusted. They have never given her a second chance and just rant about her show.
But they dont know that she admits to that, and uses it as an example when she gets into the psychology of money. Oh well. I have to either go watch suze in the bedroom, or catch it when I can.
I do think there is a correlation between my fiances lack of interest and participation in our finances and his low tolerance for suze. He just finds it boring, and thinks its all "you earn a dollar, you spend a dollar, dont spend more than you earn" talk.
I on the other hand am totally fascinated by all the options there is for your money, and all the different outcomes of those options. And I love the psychology behind the spending habits.

gamecock43 - I do like that even though she gives the same basic advice over and over, she also tailors her advice to the situation. Last night was a perfect example. Early in the show, a guy called who had found out his wife secretly ran up thousands in CC debt. She advised him to use the tax refund and work bonus to pay it off. Later, a woman called whose husband was constantly overspending and Suze told her not to pay it off with her savings. Suze then stopped to explain why she gave different advice to each caller in pretty similar situations, and her reasoning made a lot of sense.

Monday was a holiday, memorial day. They re ran Suze's shows all afternoon. That is why someone saw the show in the daytime the other day.

Suze's jaw definately dropped when she said 40 million. I think I could swing living off 2 million a year.

This thread is about identifying Jane

and not about whether you like Suze Orman or not.

And for Jane, Suze didn't give investing advice ... she told 'Jane" what SHE does because she judged that 'Jane" seemed skeptical about taking advice from others and sketish about the stockmarket, etc.

Does anyone else think "Jane" is Holly Heston Rochelle? She did say she already has several houses.

Anyone have any more ideas about who "Jane" could be?

justme8 - I don't mind discussing what folks think of Suze Orman. I happen to enjoy her show and have read a couple of her books. I think overall she gives good advice. What I often don't like is when she plays psychologist and tries to give advice on relationships and other non-financial issues. I think there are others who are far better trained to handle that kind of advice.
