  • Frugal way to remove blackheads

I have always had a problem with blackheads on my nose and I end up buying those blackhead removal strips. They work fine, but the problem is that they are expensive and I have to use them often to keep the blackheads from coming back.

A friend of mine says that I can put a layer of white glue on my nose, let it dry, and then peel it off and get the same results as the expensive blackhead removal strips. I'm wondering if he is joking or telling the truth? I don't want to do it and look stupid. Have you heard of this as a frugal way to remove blackheads?

I hadn't heard if that would work, but if you aren't allergic to the glue (and you don't use superglue or gorilla glue or something )it would probably work.

I have used egg whites. Whip them until they are stiff, then put on your face, and let it dry. Once dry, wash it off.

Ummm. When I was a kid we would spread a layer of Elmer's regular white glue on our palms. We'd let it dry, then peel it off. We could see all the lines in the glue like we had peeled off our skin. Then we'd roll it into a ball and flick it at someone.

I wonder if it would work on blackheads???? (minus throwing it a someone later.)

lol to cantretire, what i do is run hot as you can handle water on a cloth and put it on your problem area till it cools then lightly scrub. It takes a while but if you do it every shower it should stop the build up.

I just squeeze the ones on my nose out every so often. It's fun watching them "sprout" from my skin. I don't really have a need to do it though as they aren't bad and don't cause big red zits. It's more of an entertainment thing for me.

The best way to remove blackheads are gentle treatments like steam facials. It is the best home remedy.Start by setting out a bowl of hot water. Don't use boiling water, but do make sure the water is hot enough to create steam. Steam your face by sitting close to the bowl, and place a towel over your head. When you are done steaming your face, immediately apply an exfoliating lotion, or the juice of a citrus fruit to exfoliate the skin on your face and neck. When you are finished exfoliating your skin, splash clean, warm water on your face. Then immediately splash cold water on your face. The cold water will cause the pores to close or shrink, thereby keeping dirt from entering.

When I used to get facials (ie when I had more money-a job) they would cleanse, exfoliate, steam open the pores, and then "dig in". the extraction part really hurt, but apparently when your face is steamed the pores open up so it's not damaging. I don't know, when I try to do it myself, I always end up causing more harm than good, in other words, massive red craters.

cantretire, that is too funny about the glue, brought back memories
