  • Extreme Couponing...

Can any of you pull it off like they do on the show?? I used to, but no longer can. Stores in my area no longer double coupons, and many coupons are now limited to limit 4 per transaction. Also, our stores will not allow you to split your order into numerous transactions like they do on the TV show.

I just watched last week, and episode where they used the same coupon I had, that stated limit 4. Yet the store the shopper was at let her buy 34 of of item in one transaction.

One show had a lady going out and picking up newspapers in houses that appeared empty. So what?? When I moved my paper kept going to my old house for 2 weeks after I moved (I failed to give advance notice), and every few days I would go over, get my papers and mail and check the house. On the show thats basically stealing the newspapers.

I think the show is full of false practices....

I'm just starting to dabble in it. My son-in-law is a beginner and is very intuitive. I'm just going to ride his coattail.

As you described, a number of these practices are questionable at best. Given that a lot of companies are catching on to certain abuses with the system, I think we will likely continue to see more and more of these loopholes begin to close. We don't really coupon that much other than to add electronic coupons to our grocery cards and to watch for sale ads and promotions on products we typically buy. There is definitely an art to serious couponing, but we haven't yet found a comfortable stride that works for stores around us and the products we buy.

when i go to the store i only expect to save on 50% on my groceries bill. if i save more than that it's a bonus for me. the only way you can walk out the store with hardly payin anythin is the drug stores like cvs, rite-aid, walgreens. can't wait to get back to the states so that i can shop like that again.
