Does anyone play the Grocery Game at http://www.thegrocerygame.com ?

I signed up for it and I like getting what's on sale, but I can't find that it has saved me a lot of money so far. What is on sale and with coupons are things that I don't need or won't use.

I just wonder if anyone else is doing it and if so, how is it working out for you?

Wow, I can't believe that this is the post that has pulled me from lurker status.

There is nothing that the gg service can tell you that you can not find for free elsewhere on the web. The same is true for their message board. The goal is to hype their service, not to provide a place for deal seekers to share their finds. You can find much more comprehensive info on other boards, all for free.

      I disagree.

I'm on practically any couponing board worth a look and subscribe to the Grocery Game. You're probably thinking why bother when it's all over the web, right? Well, it's not all over the web. I only became a member when it was apparent that there was some kind of insider info amoungst certain couponing forum members and I literally had to jump from board to board to put all the pieces together. That takes time, BTW. Time that was better put to use by signing up for the damn service and having the info in my hands immediately. At $1/week I'm not complaining.

Think of it this way - you pay for something and are expected to give the info away for free? It didn't happen before I bacame a member and it's not happening now that I am a member. Those deals rarely ever make it to the "free" boards. Oh, but you will read about the "braggs" over on the free boards.

What other boards do you look at? I have a hard time distinguishing good versus bad boards when it comes to coupons or deals. It's hard for me to find real information because so many of those sites look like spam waiting to happen.

I liked the site but not enough to pay for it. I didn't like that the sales did not post till the day of. I get my circular on Thursday and do all my sales on Saturday. But when I used this site the sales did not start until Sunday.

The Grocery Game didn't work for me. The info they gave me regarding sales wasn't accurate, and they said that my local stores accepted internet coupons when they don't. It led to a few embarassing encounters at Albertson's, and I didn't save anything more than I normally would have.

I think its ok but, theres nothing that I can't do my self. Why pay for it?

I joined Grocery Game to teach me how to shop. I'd never shopped using the sales/coupon combination for saving money. I agree that a lot of what is on the list doesn't apply to me. I can figure out my own groceries list now so I cancelled my grocery store list and only use the Walgreen list. Now there I save way more than $1 a week! I don't have time to figure it out myself and it is well worth the expense to be a member. With 2 teenage daughters I need all the free hair and feminine hygiene products I can get!
