  • saving money by paying more for gas

Unusual money saving tip but it works (at least for my car).
With super gas my car is much more efficient (at least 10%). As the super gas is only 20cents (7%) more expensive than the regular one. This actually make financial sense. This might become even more important as price rise (because the difference between regular and super tend to remain at 20¢ no matter how much the gas is, so the difference % decrease as prices rise.

Use the trip for a full tank of gas on regular and on your next tank use super. Make sure driving is consistent with both tanks of gas and also how much weight is in the car. Compare the two total trip miles to find if it is worth it use a different grade gas.

Re: saving money by paying more for gas

I have been using a product that has been saving me $10 - $15 dollars everytime I fill up. I was using Premium because my truck is brand new and my wife was convinced that we should spend more because the better quality gas worth it.

Well, some weeks I just could not afford the premium price so I started using a product that enables me to use regular gas again without sacrificing the MPG's.

I have a Discover card that my husband and I use ONLY for gas purchases. We get back 5% of the purchase price every time we pay at the pump. We can apply that money towards our account balance in $20.00 increments. I'm usually able to pay 1/4 to 1/2 of our minimum monthly payment with this cash back incentive.

We upped our costco membership to executive and you get back varing percentages on purchases but for the $100.00 I really haven't seen agreat return. We are going back to regular membership, this also turned us off of other payback cards etc.

P.S forgot to mention Gas we use costco because its the cheapest but we still don't see monumental payback because of the excutive membership. Sorry I left that out.

This reminds me of how uneducated some people are.
Buying a higher grade gas does not get better gas mileage.
Check Consumer Reports Magazine. They have performed many test.
                Want better gas mileage:

Change your oil every 3000 miles or 3 months, whatever comes 1st
Change your air filter every 6 months
Makes sure your tires are aired up properly
Make sure your tires are balanced once a year
Slow down, back off the pedal. Take off slow from stops.

                  Mistake!

                  1) Using an additive that is not on your trucks owner's manual will cost you in the long run.

                  2) Use only recommended grade of gas. Using premium just because the vehicle is new will not do any good.

My two cents. I have done a bit of research and I am an engineer.
