  • Money saving tips while moving house.

Here are some money saving tips while you move your house:

    1. Use plastic containers, cartons or recycled cardboard boxes.
    2. The peak moving season is the summer and it’s the most expensive one. Move during the off season and you will skip the high costs.
    3. Sell your unwanted furniture or Offer it to your local charity shop.
    4. You should pack on your own.

You can have a garage sale on your backyard. This will help you get over those things that you know will have a good new owner. Packing on your own is a good choice before a move.

Also taking quotations from different transporter does helps in understanding ways to save costs. Also plastic needs to be used to replace other expensive card board for shifting purpose.

I don't generally think that plastic containers are a much better option. If stored and used for other purpose, yes, but if they are thrown away after some time, then I'd advise anyone to go with recycled cardboard boxes, or simply recycle the boxes they use for the move, as we all know they can be a lot.

I agree. I always get boxes for free from local stores that would be tossing them anyway. For my last move I was able to get all the boxes I needed for free from a Kohls.

We are in the planning and design stages of a big remodel / addition which will require us to move out of our home for a while.
I fully intend to dispose of quite a bit of stuff, either sell it, give away, or pitch it in a dumpster.

It is better to give things to those who need them than to throw them away. Or throw things, not in the trash can, but leave them next to the trash can. Then the person in need will find them.

We used cardboard boxes when we collected things when moving. Our friend owns a detergent store. She gave us a lot of cardboard boxes in which powders were brought to her. It was enough for us to pack all the bed linen, dishes, cans, clothes, and books. The moving company did everything else for us. The company's employees and movers arrived, beautifully packed the cabinets, put covers on the furniture, moved everything to a new house. I didn't even know that https://www.cheapmoverssingapore.com/house-mover/ offers such services. We gave a single amount for packaging, for movers, and transportation.

We live rural. Don't have a curb to set things on and not much traffic.
