September 18th, 2023 at 01:59 AM by mumof2

Well firs off the dog is fine and they think it is just a cyst that he has had a couple of before so right now it is wait and see...so no extra money out there other than the $80 consult fee.
As prices are soaring here with everything the govt is upping their payments and each payment is getting different amounts...we are getting the following which will help out
Back paid $350 (jan2022 till june) for utilities (elec) for having fibromyalgia then $50 every quarter from then on.

Cheesedoodles!

September 16th, 2023 at 11:33 PM by PatientSaver

Last week my father and I met a cousin and her husband who were out this way visiting from Ohio. It's the first time we've ever met! We had a  nice dinner, my treat. My father said he would pay me back, that I shouldn't pay, but they are not really his relatives; she is the grand-daughter of my maternal grandfather's brother. I figured they had enough expenses to deal with related to the trip out here.
Today I was SUPPOSED to do a litter pickup as part of the Ocean Conservancy's...

It’s been a minute / refocusing

September 16th, 2023 at 02:54 AM by Honey

I realized this month, I haven't been using my budget. Money in, money out, autopay, etc.
There's a reason. In April, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. And all things came to a halt. Thank gosh for auto pay. I cashrolled all my medical bills since March, so even had to pay cash for 2 CT scans because my I insurance denied them. 10k so far. I have two chemos left, then surgery and radiation. Some of the radiation may spill into 2024... so it will cost me $50 a...

Student Loan Update

September 15th, 2023 at 11:19 AM by Amber

Today’s student loan  balance is $32,111.59, of that $24.16 is interest accumulated since 9/11.

Today I’m paying $254.59, $24.16 will go towards the interest as of today; however,  I added an extra $12.04 which should cover the next few days of interest.

Hopefully the new balance  will be $31,857 by time the payment post, which I'm anticipating Monday🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾.
While paying today I noticed a box...

Take Good Care

September 14th, 2023 at 06:58 PM by Rob62521

I spent the day a week or so ago washing and waxing my car. I like to do it once a year and go over carefully to make sure there isn't damage I may have missed. It cleaned up pretty nicely and I was very pleased with the end result. I also cleaned the inside. I was just thinking about how much I spend on this vehicle and its maintenance (amazing where your mind wanders when you are working).
I don't begrudge any of the money I've spent so far on the vehicle. I had to break...

No Spend September Update

September 14th, 2023 at 03:24 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

I made another grocery shopping trip last night. I went to Winco and spent $126.68.  $20 of that was right outside the store to a man selling strawberries. They were the best-looking strawberries I’ve seen all year. (I tried them when I got home, and they are so good! Worth it!) I bought a lot of other fresh produce: lettuce, bell peppers, onions, cuties, and bananas. I bought 4 half gallons of almond milk, 7 boxes of chai tea latte mix*, 2 quarts of heavy cream, coffee...

Sick Pay

September 14th, 2023 at 03:58 AM by Monkey Mama

MH just told me that his sick pay was bumped up to 80 hours annually.   Which is pretty nice for a job that is only ~20 hours per week.
The timing is good because he wants to take two weeks off to work on this movie.  They always let him use his sick time for any time off because part-time employees don't have any vacation time.
He was just telling me they don't have any COVID policies at this point but I guess his location is being conservative.  & just...

Day 2
We spent the day at the Singapore zoo and River Wonders.  Cost was $118 4 park hopper because there are 4 parks total Zoo, River Wonders, Birds of Paradise, and Night Safari (which we did another day).  Running total $216 SGD (since I bought it for $414 SGD) in activity entrance fees so far.  We took the train to the zoo which cost us around $16 public transit, but the uber home for $22, which was 60 minutes versus 30 minutes.  We spent $70 USD on lunch...

budget 2023/2024

September 13th, 2023 at 03:23 AM by mumof2

Well yesterday I sat down and did our budget..it never really changes in that our bills always remain similar..we do however add 10% moe each year as they usually go up...especially now...and it can be hard as we do get US money and we all know how much the dollar changes...so I usually round down so I know we can cover everything. The CC will be paid off by end of year...should have some good savings next year....but in saying that our dog has the vet today as we found a growth...

Goal Check-In

September 12th, 2023 at 05:03 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

Still doing pretty well on the No-Spend September front. We have had some necessary car repairs to make to the tune of $100, but those were necesarry and not in impulse purchase, so they don't bother me. I haven't been back to the grocery store but will make a trip this weekend and update my totals after. Last Saturday, my daughter asked me to go shopping with her and I did. She has an upcoming international trip and needed some things for that. I was proud that I only acted as...

In Illinois Now

September 12th, 2023 at 04:20 PM by Petunia 100

I am in Illinois now.   Last night, I spent the night at my son's house.
I am not buying that little blue craftsman; it has foundation issues.
I have been seeing houses but haven't found one yet which will work.
I don't think I am going to find a house which I can currently pay cash for which will suit my needs. While a traditional mortgage is currently not an option, a hard money loan is.
You may recall that SB has previously lent money through an investor group...

Spending

September 12th, 2023 at 04:04 AM by CB in the City

I went to a garage sale yesterday and found a gift for BFF -- a lusterware cream and sugar set. She likes lusterware -- I hope she feels she can add more to her collection. It was $6. Her birthday is coming up in November.
I sent $250 to my Oregon son -- the $200 for my grandson's college fund, and $50 for a birthday gift.
I intended to grocery shop today, but I was too tired after a lousy night's sleep. So far I'm not doing any better tonight! I did manage to do some laundry...

Singapore Day 1

September 11th, 2023 at 11:57 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

Day 1
So we arrived in Singapore at 5 am and were fortunate the hotel let us use their shower facility at the pool to shower, change, and refresh.  Our location at the JW Marriott South Beach was excellent and it was a nice hotel.  You don't have to tip in Asia but honestly in places where they are used to guests they are expecting tip, just not as much as you would in North America.  Our hotel we stayed for free using Marriott points for 4 nights get 5th night...

Student Loans - Rework My Budget

September 9th, 2023 at 03:33 PM by Amber

So I did the math, I'm averaging about $6 a day in interest on my student loans, that's $180 for the month.
My monthly payment is $319, this is tentative, I haven't received the notice as to what my actual payment would be. If this is true, about $139 will go towards my principal a month. To stay a float and ahead of this thing I have to pay an extra $200, at least a month.
I reworked my budget to pay $180 a month, $90 a pay check, since I'm paid semi-monthly.
I...

LA Trip

September 9th, 2023 at 03:55 AM by Monkey Mama

Success!
Not only did I have a peaceful week.  But was able to finally redo jinxed LA trip.  Third time was the charm.  Had planned this trip originally in 2019.  Was initially supposed to be Hearst Castle, Solvang, LA.  (We skipped Solvang this time, but we made it at some point.)
If money were no object, the central CA coast is where I would live.  It has always been my favorite place.  It's more complicated than that.  Living close...

Looking for Money

September 8th, 2023 at 11:50 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

I'm trying to come up with $175 by Tuesday. Today, when I got home from work I rolled my change and I had $55. I will deposit it in the bank on Monday so I can send it to our credit card bill. I'm really excited! I figured I'd have only $25... $55 is a good dent. I still need to come up with $120, but I'm a little bit closer now!

Our (Not so Good) History with Credit Cards

September 8th, 2023 at 03:38 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

Our history with credit has not been particularly good.  Our credit score has always been very good, but our use of credit was almost always irresponsible. There have been times in our life when the use of credit was absolutely necessary to keep us afloat. There have been times that we used credit to live far above our means; and there have been times that we have been living just at our means. Currently, we are actually living “below” our means in that we are...

Every Little Bit Helps

September 7th, 2023 at 06:40 PM by Amber

Paid another $29.25 towards my student loans because I hate odd numbers. Next week I'll pay an extra $41.
I wish I could drop more on this loan but for now I'll pay extra no matter how small, when I can.
