Spam Calls

September 26th, 2023 at 11:25 PM by Amber

OMG, in the span of 5 minutes I received about six calls to buy my home, during dinner time.

This is so annoying. I really wish there was some legislation regarding selling contact information. This is insane.

My number is listed on the Do Not Call Registry, but the calls don’t stop.

Just needed to vent

Work Update

September 26th, 2023 at 09:56 PM by Amber

I have a mentor (new job) who knows his/her stuff; however, when it comes to training it like s/he has zero patience.

I asked for a quick call to clarify an action item and s/he sent me the exact same action item. Now I’m twiddling my thumbs to try and figure it out. So I sent a very nice response that I know what the task is; however, where is the client seeing the error.
S/he did respond and I was able to make the update.

Long stride...

Frugal-ish Wins

September 26th, 2023 at 05:01 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

I am not especially frugal. I’m not a spendthrift (though I used to lean that way), but I’m not super good at saving money either… I fall somewhere in the middle, but I want to start trying to celebrate my frugal wins. Every so often I will write a post about ways I saved money, or maybe just ways I didn’t waste money. I think the more mindful I am of some frugal wins, maybe the more I will see.
I have 29 nieces and nephews and there is nothing frugal...

The harvest

September 26th, 2023 at 04:58 PM by PatientSaver

I like to track my harvested produce from my 3 small raised beds each year. I can't find last year's tally so as to compare this year to then, but oh well: I know in general my harvest was down this year, for whatever reason(s).
Cucumber: I started out with 2 cucumber plants. One died due to lack of water 1 day too long: mia culpa. Still, I got 7 cucumbers from the remaining plant for a total of 78 ounces.
Tomatoes: I had mostly cherry tomatoes as the chipmunks are less inclined...

Currently Enjoying Covid

September 26th, 2023 at 03:19 AM by Petunia 100

I must have been exposed to Covid on my flight home.  I have been so sick for more than a week.  I still feel very crummy, but somewhat less crummy.  Therefore, I am cautiously optimistic that the worst is behind me.
I am under contract for a house, we are currently negotiating over the items in the inspection report, so the purchase is still up in the air.

Student Loan Update

September 26th, 2023 at 01:48 AM by Amber

Today’s student loan balance is $31,917.19 and the interest accrued since 9/18 is $60.19. In one week I’ve accrued over $60 bucks in interest, by the end of this week this amount will double. Shameful

Friday is pay day and I plan on paying about $300, the issue with this is the payment won’t post until the following week, that means I’d be accruing interest on an unpaid balance. Not that it makes a whole lot of sense difference it just bothers...

Some Extra Money

September 25th, 2023 at 04:32 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

I bought something for someone a few months ago and haven’t see them in a while. My daughter actually delivered it to them last month but forgot to get the money. I finally saw them this past weekend and they paid us back…with a little interest. They owed us $237 and gave us $250. Because it is money already spent, for us it’s not earmarked anywhere, so it will go straight to the credit card! YAY! Payday is Friday and I will go to the bank and take out the money...

does planning make you stay on track?

September 25th, 2023 at 10:19 AM by mumof2

I have started from scratch again with my budget and everything. I have noticed that when I get sick or stressed and things fall away and not planned then I just don't bother and it is hard when you have a chronic illness to always stay on track...So I have redone my budget starting october (our next pay cycle), have my meals planned and have my shopping lists ready to go (we got to 5 different stores/markets) I am hoping that helps me stay on track and get back on track and stay...

Grandson's Birthday

September 24th, 2023 at 04:14 AM by CB in the City

Tomorrow is my grandson's birthday. Today I withdrew $250 -- $200 for his college fund and $50 for his gift. I also bought a couple of cards for $10. One is for him, the other is for my son, whose birthday is in February. It just happened to be the perfect card for him, so I bought it.
I did a little juggling and correcting, and my variables are now at 85%.
We will have a little party tomorrow.
On Tuesday, I'll do my last grocery shopping trip of the month.
I've had a hankering...

Duplicate Credit Card Payment

September 23rd, 2023 at 07:02 PM by terri77

I charged the balance owed on my vacation next month to my American Airlines credit card. I wrote & mailed a check, but somehow they also debited my checking account. So o paid twice. Rather than wait on a reimbursement check I'm just going to switch all my credit card purchases to this credit card. I also charged a couple of Trader Joe's grocery runs to my new Kohl's Capital One card in order to get a $15 credit promotion.
I also started to use my debit card on my new...

working one year contract and a raise

September 22nd, 2023 at 06:01 PM by Good Living

I'm working a one year contract and while I have to drive farther, I'm really enjoying the folks that I'm meeting here.  I'm spending the time with my commute listening to audiobooks and podcasts again which I very much enjoy.  The days are longer which is taking some adjustment plus it's been like 8 months since I've really had to pay attention to a schedule again.
There's been a number of death/illnesses in my circle of friends. I think I need to start a gratitude...

Ten Days?

September 21st, 2023 at 10:09 PM by CB in the City

Wow, has it really been ten days since I posted? That doesn't seem right, but it seems it's true.
I spent $24 for groceries this week, and $5 on household supplies (bleach). I paid $115 in medical fees, and there are more charges in the percolator. It's been a time of many medical appointments. Nothing scary, though. Just getting things checked out, and getting a thumbs-up.
I spent $33 on clothes from Goodwill. I am losing weight (yay!) and needed a few items that would fit better....

Emergency Fund

September 21st, 2023 at 03:19 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

My current emergency fund is very small. I have more than the $1000 baby emergency fund suggested by Dave Ramsey, but not by much. I’m starting to feel very anxious about it. We do have a little more money, but it is all earmarked for certain things like our daughters schooling and a tax bill do in early October. Our actual emergency fun is only about $2000.
Our daughter wants to be a personal trainer. She has decided not to attend college and to take a nationally accepted...

Debt Update

September 19th, 2023 at 03:10 PM by Brunette Getting Out of Debt

It took us a LONG time to truly get serious about debt payoff. At its highest point, our credit card debt was $24,905.68. Last month, our total credit card debt was $14,867.79.
Our credit card statement just closed and our current balance is $14,012.36. We decreased our credit card debt by $855.43. That is a total decrease of 6 percent.
I am excited by the decrease and am so happy to see continued progress, but I’m a little bummed that we didn’t make our goal of...

Meal Plan for Week 2 of Food Waste Reduction Challenge

September 19th, 2023 at 04:13 AM by Lucky Robin

Okay, now that I've sent in my post on how I did during week one, here is my plan for week two.  I've decided to take it easy on myself, because I still have this cold, or possibly a sinus infection, and it is dragging me down and I don't want to have to work too hard at making dinners right now.
Meal One: Beef Stew--Jarred beef, jarred potatoes, jarred carrots, low sodium beef gravy powder, low sodium beef broth, fresh garden green beans on the side
Meal Two: Fresh Spaghetti...

Checking In on Last Week's Food Waste Reduction

September 18th, 2023 at 09:57 PM by Lucky Robin

Last week we started on our plan to reduce excessive food spending and food waste by using up all of our leftovers, not eating out, not letting food rot in the fridge before we got to it, and buying according to our meal plan, which allowed for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks for the snackie ones.  Also, the ingredients for making deserts are always on hand, you just have to want them enough to make them.
So, on objective one, we did use up all of our leftovers last...

Day 4 Singapore

September 18th, 2023 at 06:43 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

Day 4
Our fourth day in Singapore was super busy.  We were heading to Sentosa Island for Universal Studios Singapore.  But we started out by heading to the Mount Faber Cable Car ride to Sentosa Island. It's a neat view of the city and the man made island.  Cost $28 SGD and included on the Go City Card.
We then did the Sky Helix  at the sentose cable car station cost $18 SGD and included on the Go City Card.  We also did the 4d ride cost $30...

TechBerry review: A Haven For The Social Trading Sphere

September 18th, 2023 at 04:53 PM by Gaurav PRadhan

Amidst the existing and expanding landscape of online forex trading, whether users make use of those traditional currencies, i.e., USD, AED, EUR, etc., or even those fairly nascent virtual currencies that people seem to be talking about a lot lately, such as BTC, USDT, and ETH, among others, across this entire globe, traders have successfully managed to acquire sustainable livelihoods for themselves. Unfortunately, that isn't the case for a lot of traders, despite...
