Day 204

December 17th, 2018 at 08:25 AM by Tina

I received my lastest power bill from Contact, which says I have a credit of nzd66.24, so nothing to pay this month. Not sure where that came from but I'll take it.

I bought some thermal underwear from Orphans Aid for nz5.00. Still in the packet! Never been worn! It pays to look for these things in the off season.

Benefit From Features Of Angular JS

December 17th, 2018 at 07:42 AM by Kelly brown

For any business in this era, it is not easy to keep on making a profit unless it is advanced with modern technology. For every business the online presence and optimisation is much required without which to remain in the market can also prove almost impossible. For modern users, the availability of business on online platform proves much easy and useful, and hence every business is now behind the use of modern technology. To havea presence online with the help of website development...

Day 47 of YOUF

December 17th, 2018 at 06:18 AM by Cheryl B.

Well today I looked at the Sunday ads and saw that Target was having a "sale" on fit bits. Mine died a week ago and I used it all the time for walking challenges with my fellow Weight Watcher members. The cheapest was $99.

My mind thought, oh it's $99 okay I'll get it this week. And then I started thinking about this commitment I made and I decided against it. I do not need to participate in the challenges. It doesn't make me walk more, it was just kind of fun and occasionally...

Identity Theft Again

December 17th, 2018 at 03:55 AM by Lucky Robin

The last several days have been pretty awful and not just because of my cold, although that was bad, too. My ears blocked up on the 12th and only cleared this morning. If I thought I was dizzy and the world was spinning before, every time I tried to pop my ears it also felt like I was on a sail boat in rough water. I have had spinning before, but never up and down dizziness. I had to just close my eyes and sit still for several minutes and wait for it to stop. It is nice to...

Christmas Brunch

December 17th, 2018 at 12:52 AM by CB in the City

Whew! The party's over. I think it went well, though there were some imperfections -- for instance, the biscuits I made were too brown on the bottom (even though I used parchment paper). I've had that problem before and I think it may be time to look for new and better baking sheets. But that was minor. Everyone seemed to enjoy the meal, and we had a good time afterward playing games and just talking.

I was very, very tired afterward, but I resisted the urge to take a nap,...

A party and a funeral

December 16th, 2018 at 09:35 PM by PatientSaver

It was a strange week, one that started with a funeral and ended with a party.

The funeral, well, I got through it. I went alone and wound up sitting with my friend R.'s best friend, who gave a great eulogy, one that brought many smiles to my face because he so accurately depicted the R. that I knew. I also said hello to many other lifetime friends of R.'s that I haven't seen in 30 years, along with the woman who ran the driving school where R. taught kids how to drive, and...

unexpected home expense

December 16th, 2018 at 06:40 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

Because of a big wind storm on Friday a section of our fence fell down and broke. Sigh. Now I have to figure out someone to come out and fix it. I really want this done asap because we are dog sitting a dog and it's hard to let the dogs out of house.

I don't want to make a claim and DH said the neighbor we share the fence with wants to talk to her insurance. Ugh. Of course they apparently have more damage than just the fence so that may be it. But I'd prefer to consider...

The Retirement Accounts

December 16th, 2018 at 04:48 PM by Creditcardfree

I haven't checked our retirement and investment account balances since the beginning of October. I knew the market was down, and had lost most if not all gains. So I was avoiding looking. Today I looked....

the total balance is less than what it was on January 3 of this year. And we've been investing thousands of dollars. It's frustrating to see.

Of course, if I look at the share balance, that has increased because we bought shares. And these are not realized gains or losses...

Day 203 - 23 weeks to go

Day 46 of YOUF

December 16th, 2018 at 07:07 AM by Cheryl B.

I went to town to run errands. First I dropped of shirt pillow covers to new friend. She was so pleased and I told her I did not want to be paid as I thought about my own grandfather and my husband and the kind of grandfather he is. I felt honored that she asked me to do something so meaningful for her family. The very last shirt was a heavier denim stripe and I just could not bring myself to cut it. I told her if she really wanted me to I would and she said she believed in...

Fuel Cost Update

December 15th, 2018 at 05:12 PM by Monkey Mama

Just to round out my last EV update.

I hadn't shared the total fuel costs for the month of November.

Apparently, we spent $60 total to fuel (electric and gas) the Volt/hybrid and $61 to fuel the gas car.

That was $61 to drive the gas car 550 miles.

& $60 to drive the hybrid 1,769 miles.

So, there you go.

I was going to say that we hadn't even bought any gas this month. But I see that we topped off the (Volt) tank at some point after Thanksgiving. The cool...

Cleaning Mode

December 15th, 2018 at 02:04 PM by CB in the City

I worked hard yesterday and most of my efforts were in the kitchen. I cleaned the stove, oven, and refrigerator. I soaked the burners overnight in ammonia and used a baking soda paste overnight in the oven. Success on both scores! I also dusted all over the house, and I cleaned some glass shelves in the kitchen window and all the colorful glass vases that they hold. I still need to pay attention to the floors -- but that can come later in the day. I have to do that, plus...

December 14, 2018 Day 45 of YOUF

December 15th, 2018 at 06:46 AM by Cheryl B.

I pulled out a carton of tomato/red pepper soup from Costco. It has been in our pantry for a few years. We had 2 cheeseburgers, sealed and frozen that I pulled from the freezer too. This was for dinner tonight.

When I went to open the soup, the foil seal was undone. The soup was very separated and honestly it was post dated. All three cartons were the same, foil torn and separated soup. I threw it away.

There is a good reason right there to not stock up too much! I...

Tough Love From My Saving Advice Followers

December 14th, 2018 at 10:43 PM by Amber

I hate the tough love that you all give me but hey, you’re more financially stable than me so what do I know.

Right now I have about $8,000 in my savings. It’s not on the sidebar. I’m truly OCD about having money saved just in case. It’s money I just don’t touch or look st. I actually had the funds in a bank account at least a hour away. Today I closed the account and deposited the money into my account that is close by.

Why? Well to pay off CC9. But I’m nervous...

promotion

December 14th, 2018 at 10:07 PM by kashi

Somehow the time flew by and it went from July to December!

As of the end of this month, I'm being promoted to a newly created, salaried role within my department and with the same boss. It comes with a decent raise and a few more days of PTO per year. I'll still get my raise next spring, too! I'm incredibly grateful to my boss for pushing for this promotion and helping craft the new job role, and really looking forward to doing more. It's my second promotion since I started,...

Incoming Funds

December 14th, 2018 at 10:01 PM by Creditcardfree

Today was payday!

I paid off all the credit card balances, which is my usual routine twice per month. I also balanced categories in YNAB back to zero and then added in money to flush those categories out for the rest of the month spending. I'm guessing with our girls home visiting for the next three weeks to a month we will be spending more on groceries, dinner and likely some paid activities, although I'm hoping for free!

I finally received my $3 Pinecone Research payment....

Car Repair

December 14th, 2018 at 07:15 PM by klarose

My car was done at the mechanic today. It was $130 which I had enough put back for. I just hope this really fixes it. *fingers crossed*

Husband's overtime is still every week. We are going to up the EF and then put some towards the CCs.

Goat is sold and gone.

Web design is still swallowing me. I've been having to play catch up on the weekends and been staying up to about midnight most nights. Both husband and I are worn to a frazzle. Our house is a wreck, and we have...
