Thursday things

March 13th, 2019 at 09:13 PM by PatientSaver

I made another Kiva microloan today to Nino, who lives in Georgia, in the Caucasus region of Eurasia, so she can finance her second semester toward earning a bachelor's degree.

When the loan is eventually repaid, I can reloan the money to another deserving student or entrepreneur seeking to improve their life.

Women in other countries just don't have the same opportunities as we do. Helping someone complete their education is probably one of the best uses for my charitable...

Not getting ahead but not sinking

March 13th, 2019 at 06:11 PM by Rose.

No real changes. We have rescheduled the garage sale due to weather. No one will come in the rain...not worth it. No extra income yet. I am contemplating DoorDash (food delivery). I work in a very populated, trendy area and I might be able to work a couple of shifts on my way home. Will it be worth it? Estimated $15/ hour for 3 hours for 2-3 days? And I am responsible for taxes, fuel, and wear and tear on my car? I wish I could just work a pt job with my taxes taken out...

Going to the Doctor

March 13th, 2019 at 04:13 PM by CB in the City

I've done my early-morning mystery shop, which meant a trip into the city, but it went okay I think. I spent $6 over the reimbursement for deodorant.

I also spent $4 for breakfast at McDonald's. Obviously, that was an impulse, but I was hungry and nervous about traffic.

In a few minutes I will leave for my doctor's appointment.

I called my lawyer in Indiana, and he advised me to get a living will drawn up by an Illinois lawyer. He said I could probably get forms from...

Busy, busy

March 13th, 2019 at 02:31 AM by Dido

This is certainly busy season for CPAs, and even though I'm no longer doing tax prep, it's busy season for me as well as I'm still in an affiliated industry (I work for a Registered Investment Advisor as a financial planner). So right now there are a lot of tax questions to answer for clients as well as making sure that each client's tax preparer has the information needed to do the returns. That layer of work lies on top of the ordinary work of preparing to meet with clients.

The...

Week 10

March 12th, 2019 at 10:08 PM by Shiela

We had car problem all weekend and because we had a long weekend DH couldn’t take it to the mechanic until this morning. I’m hoping it won’t cost too much and they can actually fix it.
Because of the car we cancelled our plan to go out on Sunday, we had planned to go to the farmer’s market again and we also had planned to go into the city. Instead me just spend some of our time at our local park, we got to watched a game of cricket.
However, we did chanced the car...

A cold AND food poisoning.....seriously!?

March 12th, 2019 at 08:36 PM by Banker Gurl

MO has been dealing with a "Man Cold" for a week or so and I was doing my best to avoid it.....but it found me. I've had symptoms for a few days but yesterday was the first day I started really feeling sick. I never sleep well since we lost the babies and the night before I was laying there till 5am..UGH! So last night I took a sleeping pill so I could get some rest and fight this cold. So I fall asleep pretty quickly, but wake up with terrible stomach cramps and lucky me I...

Scared

March 12th, 2019 at 08:17 PM by Amber

I’m so scared now. The Trump administration has proposed cuts that will impact student loans. There’s a possibility that the income driven payment program will be no longer for some, I’m included.

Right now my salary is $58k and based on that my payments are $172. I can’t imagine paying more until I get these credit cards paid off, and even then it will be tough.

I’ve been looking for a part time job so I can start tackling this thing but nothing.

This and That

March 12th, 2019 at 03:58 PM by CB in the City

Just went to Planet Fitness and got my free bagel breakfast -- and a workout, of course. Then went to Food4Less and spent $12 on groceries. That puts variables up to 53%.

I signed up for a drug store mystery shop tomorrow morning, and I'm waiting to hear if I am assigned. If so, I will have to do it early tomorrow morning, and then I have a doctor's appointment, followed by picking up the boys, and possibly taking them to music lessons.

This doctor's visit will be my pre-surgery...

Reminders to myself

March 11th, 2019 at 07:34 PM by Starfishy

Long time no blog!

I do still enjoy reading and being inspired by other SA blogs, though. Thanks to those of you who are consistent.

This is a reminder to myself that I need to:

1) Do my taxes. Usually very easy except for the decision to contribute to an IRA.

2) Submit forms for medical reimbursements for my 2018 flex spending account. I think I have $1300 available! Oh good, writing this has just spurred me on to find some old emails and figure out how to log...

FB Sales Week of 3/3/19

March 11th, 2019 at 06:53 PM by Banker Gurl

The weather continues to keep my customers from picking up. I had messaged several for pick-up on Friday evening and many were planning to come Saturday, then overnight we got over 5 inches of snow! It continued to snow throughout the day and needless to say no one showed up. I still had good sales for the week, mostly due to sales that MO had dropped off for me when he went to town for errands. Hoping the weather will cooperate soon!

Total sales for the week were $199.00!

Sale #1173 (KJ) $20.00

Grocery Spending, and Legal Question

March 11th, 2019 at 05:14 PM by CB in the City

I went to the gym yesterday and then to Aldi's, where I spent $45. Variables are at 52%, with 16 days to go.

Even though the temperature was warmer than it has been, the wind was high, and it was freezing! I was quite miserable loading and unloading the car, and I was happy to spend the rest of the day at home.

I made a comfort-food casserole with chicken, rice, mushrooms and cream of mushroom soup. It turned out very dry after I baked it. I'm assuming the rice absorbed...

What do you think?

March 11th, 2019 at 03:17 PM by DK62565

I feel like I've gotten a lot done already this morning. Emptied the dishwasher, exercised, cleaned up, read a magazine so I can return it and my other large pile of things to the library, and wrote a letter. I like days like this when I get quite a bit done early.

I noticed that there is someone who sometimes comments on my blogs and they are not very nice comments. Either that person is really cranky or someone who wants to comment and then start something. I deleted the last...

new acct

March 11th, 2019 at 12:39 AM by mumof2

Well opened up a new account so I can track my savings and also keep the money I have allocated to buying my friends tickets and while she is here doing the things we want to do...I have a budget and want to try to stick with it....can be hard...but I figure I will keep the account when she leaves and just add money into it for when we buy our house for the things we might want to do to the new house...so have a couple of years for that.

Been busy catching up with family since...

Wheels!

March 10th, 2019 at 01:37 PM by CB in the City

My car was ready yesterday, and DS took me to pick it up at around 11 am. It looks amazing! It looks better than the day I bought it. Of course, I had to pay $500 out of pocket, but I'm trying to let that go. That's what emergency funds are for.

I drove straight to the library and picked up some more books.

Today I'm going to go to the gym (after a week's break) and then to Aldi for a few groceries.

I babysat for the boys last night while DS & DIL went out to dinner...

Bargain Hunting

March 9th, 2019 at 09:04 PM by DK62565

Usually on Fridays we hit the thrift stores. We found some great finds yesterday. One had everything 75% off. I found 3 craft things I wanted. I had seen them a couple of weeks before, but refused to pay the price on them. One is an apron that you embroider. I thought that would be a nice gift for a friend. It was still in the package and had the embroidery floss. We paid 63 cents and tax for it. I started it last night. This year I started something and that was to give a friend...

Not Exactly Murphy

March 9th, 2019 at 08:44 PM by Alliecat79

So a number of expenses have cropped up. I can't necessarily say it's Murphy's law as these were not tragic nor an inconvenience. But all of these kind of avalanched at once. A local parent reached out and asked if my son was interested in playing for the traveling baseball team to which my son, of course, said yes. I knew I was going to have to pay high school baseball fees, but they also asked for an additional fee for some supplies. Then my son came home with a flier for...

Saturday Catch Up

March 9th, 2019 at 05:01 PM by Amber

Yesterday was pay day, I’ve managed to save and add to my CC 😀. I’ll update the totals later.

I got the refund check from my insurance company, I switched to Geico, saving me, $60 bucks a month. My mom wanted me to give her the check. I’m not going into details but I’ll say this, any time you get any one money from anything she expects a portion. Nope I’m adding the $101 to my CC once the check clears.

In different news I did not track my expenses all of last...
