Yay!

October 1st, 2019 at 08:15 PM by Amber

Thank God the blogs are back up, I was seriously having withdrawals, miss you guys.

Here is what is happening with me.

I hate when this site is down. For a few days I could not log in. Anyone know of another site that we can join and transition to?

Anyway, I finally got a response from my attorney. Praise God I did not go with my last attorney I had.

Anyway, she received the documents from the bank that debunks my brother’s claims of me falsifying documents...

Whoopee!

October 1st, 2019 at 06:09 PM by CB in the City

Well, I'm glad to see some functionality! I do hope we get the blog archives back from April 12 to now.

I don't have any real news to report, but I'm glad to be embarking on my October budget. I'll post my September recap when I feel sure this whole thing is a go. But it looks like I ended the month with $800 extra in checking. I'll keep it there, because I like a cushion in checking. My next goal is to bring my liquid savings back up to $5K, and then I'll split the balance...

Welcome Back!

October 1st, 2019 at 05:56 PM by Creditcardfree

Well, it seems the site may be up, but posts only updated through mid April 2019. I haven't looked around much to see what is missing.

I had about given up! Some of us have been connecting by email and Facebook to figure out a new plan. More work to do to figure out where our rendezvous point is if the site goes down permanently.

I had made a financial blog on Blogger quite a while back, called Our Money Blog. I put some posts up that may have even been duplicates from...

Restful Day

April 12th, 2019 at 12:36 PM by CB in the City

It was a nice, restful day yesterday, with no visit from either the nurse or the PT. Today the PT is coming.

I changed my own dressing for the first time this morning, and it was easy.

My son is still stopping in morning and evening to put on and remove my compression socks. I'll be glad when that's finally done.

I tried to be proactive yesterday and make appointments for physical therapy after I transition to outpatient therapy. I talked to someone who didn't know...

Day off

April 11th, 2019 at 10:24 PM by Dido

I have been pushing very hard non-stop for the past few weeks (other than taking last weekend off and spending much of it in bed because I felt like I was coming down with a cold; fortunately the extra rest has seemed to forestall that illness, knock on wood!). So today and tomorrow, with both of the major lead advisors that I report to out of town, I decided to take some personal time off.

I was working until 10 pm last night finishing a tax estimate that one advisor had promised...

My car is dead

April 11th, 2019 at 07:02 PM by Banker Gurl

Well my Malibu finally died. It was a 2002 so it's definitely had a long life! I got it in 2008 for $4000 and it made it to 230,383 miles and over 11 years!!

We don't have anywhere to scrap it close to use, but MO was able to take it to the dump for free.

We took the license plates, CD player and battery. We were able to move the battery into MO's old 1997 Cavalier and we will now drive that as our commute car until it dies. Our other two vehicles are our old truck...

$23.37

April 11th, 2019 at 12:53 PM by CB in the City

That's what I paid this morning for surgery-related services. If only it would stay that way!

It looks like the really big costs have been processed and picked up by insurance. I know that more will trickle in, but it's kind of a relief to see those big amounts wiped out.

I still think the big costs for me will be the copays for home nursing visits and and physical therapy.

No visits today. My big event is that I'll wash my hair.

Oh yes, I did get my car back yesterday....

Bits and Pieces

April 11th, 2019 at 05:31 AM by Lucky Robin

It rained all day so I didn't get any gardening done. Actually, I didn't get much of anything done. I did take DD to the doctor and DS to the gym and I read a lot. This is the first time since I got so sick that I have been up to reading for a decent length of time.

My new regimen of eye vitamins seems to be working quite well. I take 5000 IU of vitamin A, 450 mg of vitamin E, 200 mcg of selenium, and Bilberry Ginkgo Lutein complex. The spots had been getting darker again...

Huge update on my raise!

April 10th, 2019 at 02:35 PM by Steve

I posted a couple of weeks ago that I unexpectedly got a new contract at work that included a substantial raise. I thought the numbers needed to be adjusted based on my hours. I was finally able to confirm that the numbers I got were actually correct.

I thought my raise would be $15,833.
My actual raise is $40,493!!!
I am shocked and obviously very pleased.

It will be a couple of weeks before I get the first new paycheck to see how my take home changes but it should...

Trying to Get Ahead

Snowball Payment

April 10th, 2019 at 11:55 AM by Trying to Get Ahead

Well, now that I have paid off my credit card, I enjoyed one pay week with a paycheck that didn't include a payment. It's amazing how much money I could be saving, spending, enjoying if I didn't have that debt.

This paycheck will be the first snowball rollover to my student loan. If I can stay on track with this fixed amount, I should have it paid off by May 2020.

In other news, I opened another business. I am now a travel agent! So now I have two businesses and my day job.

Still No Car

April 10th, 2019 at 11:20 AM by CB in the City

Yesterday my kids went to pick up the car. The guy on the phone told them the key would be under the mat. (I only have one key.) DS said, "Okay, leave the door unlocked!" Guess what. All locked up. Who knows if the key is inside or not?

No spending yesterday; all things financial are stable.

Today I see the nurse and the physical therapist. They were both indicating this might be the last visit, since I'm passing all the "tests." I don't know if that means I will...

Gardening and Cheese Wraps

April 10th, 2019 at 06:58 AM by Lucky Robin

I am pretty tired out, but I am trying to post more often. While I'd like to post daily again, it seems to be more than I can do, but five days a week seems like a good goal to aim for.

Today DS and I worked in the garden We cleared one bed that is 24 feet by 2 feet and my mom had cleared the twin of this bed for about 8 feet this morning. I want to try to get the second one done tomorrow. I hope those two beds are enough for all the onions, but I may need to clear another...

Essential Tools for Beginner Gardeners

April 10th, 2019 at 06:06 AM by Ashleyash

Multi-Purpose is the Way to Go

Beginning in the patio nursery out of the blue is an overwhelming errand. There's such a long way to go:

What plants to develop and how to think about them

Nuisances, illnesses, and how to anticipate them

Soil, watering, and light prerequisites

The rundown continues endlessly. What's more, you have to purchase new instruments that you probably won't be acquainted with. Where numerous plant specialists turn out badly is grabbing...

Tuesday Tales

April 9th, 2019 at 01:03 PM by PatientSaver

I scheduled my annual advisory checkup with T. Rowe Price for next week. It's just a phone call where they do a little fact-finding about my goals, and then they follow up with nicely detailed recommendations for fine-tuning my portfolio and perhaps making little adjustments to my asset allocation.

I'm always curious to hear what they recommend. I've done this before and followed their advice. It doesn't mean you have to allocate to their funds, and there is no charge if you...

A Purchase

April 9th, 2019 at 11:26 AM by CB in the City

I made a purchase yesterday -- Miralax. ($20) I've had two doses so far, but no action yet. This was done at the nurse's request. This takes my variables to 108%. That's because I'm trying to cash flow the medical expenses. If they were removed, it would only be 67%. But at this point, I don't want to take medical costs from savings. That will come later.

I continue to do better and better. I've ditched the walker, and while I'm looking for a cane, at the nurse's request,...
