Bath and Body Handsoap Deal

October 12th, 2019 at 10:20 PM by Banker Gurl

Bath and Body always sells great for me, it’s not a huge money maker but it’s fast and consistent! They had their handsoaps on sale for 5/$15, plus $10 off $30 online. They are normally $6.50 each so this is a great price! I got 5 for myself and 5 to sell. I have a few buyers who always want these so I didn’t even have to post them for sale, I just message my buyer and she said of course she wanted them!

Saturday Rambling

October 12th, 2019 at 06:37 PM by Amber

Well Friday I sold an item on Poshmark for $7, my earnings was $4.

Checked my cash envelopes and I still have about $221 (total envelopes) left. I’m so proud of myself for not only staying with in my budget but coming well under.

Friday is pay day and I should be able to allocate additional funds to the CC. This is in addition to the extra $100 I have budgeted.

I returned the cable boxes to At&t and was told to hold on to the receipt for a year because they’ll...

fake winter

October 12th, 2019 at 02:43 PM by Good Living

That's what I'm calling it. It's 33 degrees outside and snowing. We're inside at 62 degrees and the heat is still off. Next Friday it is supposed to get back up to 62 degrees so I'm hoping we're still in the game. It helps to live in the middle of other connected townhomes.

Thanks for the links Ceejay, is there a way I can re-insert them into my blog? back date them?

Oh Baby, It's Cold!

October 12th, 2019 at 11:54 AM by CB in the City

37 degrees here, and we don't have heat. This infuriates me every year. Our property management company won't turn on the boiler until the last moment they can. I think it's criminal to expect people to live in temperatures like this.

I slept under a pile of blankets but did not sleep well. I'm bundled up this morning. I turned the oven on this morning so at least the kitchen will be somewhat warm. I may do some baking to make it worthwhile.

I'll probably go somewhere...

So Far Behind

October 11th, 2019 at 10:49 PM by Wink

Do you ever walk into your house and look around and think, "how in the heck did this mess happen"? I came home from work today and thought, who broke in and messed up my house??? But seriously, I am usually pretty on top of things, I like things to be in order and too much mess makes me anxious! But the last few weeks have been so incredibly busy at work, and I have had people over every Sunday for football, and I have just been too tired this week to keep up. My dining room table...

Effective Communication: A Key to Success

October 11th, 2019 at 08:24 PM by Tom Bailey

Communication is a widely used tool that people do not imagine their lives without. Modern communication is a lot more complex than it was centuries ago. We communicate through speech, pictures, body expression, tone of voice and writings. The avenue through which we communicate is not the issue of today; though it is the effectiveness of our communication. We can see how effectively we communicate by the response from whom we are communicating to. We all communicate, but are we...

Thrift store, Canning, and Hats, Hats, Hats

October 11th, 2019 at 08:06 PM by DK62565

We took some things to one of the thrift stores to donate. DH had some lighthouse lamps that have been sitting on a closet shelf and never seemed to remember to get them out, but he did yesterday. He collects lighthouse stuff, but he never really liked the lamps -- they were gifts -- and he felt like that was a good thing to give away because they still worked. Maybe someone else can enjoy them.

We also had some other things to donate and it is easier to give a few things at...

Now We're Cooking!

October 11th, 2019 at 06:50 PM by My English Castle

While the dog and I took an early walk, I've been mostly inside today--alternating between grading and cooking.

I made a big pot of potato leek soup, adapting Pioneer Woman's recipe to include leeks instead of celery. The not-so-swell apples went into cranberry apple crisp, and I've cooked down some red cabbage. Happy to use lots things up, and SO happy to have a day home. I really don't like the administrative part of my job--too much responsibility and too little reward....

And we're back

October 11th, 2019 at 04:18 PM by Good Living

UGH, bummer with the loss of posts. I lost all of our trials and tribulations on getting ready to move. We moved in our new place and our old place is back on the market. To recap: first buyer signed agreement, "inspected it" and we discovered a little bit of mold and repair that needed to be done. Apparently, the first buyer didn't actually have a real inspector go through it. She canceled after the mold but we cleaned it up and put it back on the market. Second offer, inspection...

Food Waste

October 11th, 2019 at 04:11 PM by Treeluva

We are now in a transitional time in life... we have three children - 21, 19 and 17.

Sometimes they are home for dinner. Sometimes not.
Depends on their work schedule and their social schedules.

However, I keep buying food like we are all there, all the time. (Well, I have gotten a little better).

We end up throwing so much away. It is hurtful. And drives my husband bananas.

Last Sunday, I made a roast and some beef stew to just have made for the week (plus we...

Friday Morning

October 11th, 2019 at 02:28 PM by CB in the City

What a difference a good night's sleep makes! I feel so much better.

Other than what I already reported, I did a little more spending yesterday when I ordered some fish food ($13). This will last a long time. And I forgot to report the purchase of a tank of gas on Wednesday. It was $30.

Variables are now at 56%, with almost three weeks to go.

I got my results from the mammogram and ultrasound, and it's an all-clear. That's a relief. I was a little freaked about being...

is this weird??

October 11th, 2019 at 01:23 PM by Smallsteps

so the place i work is very casual they often cater and any leftovers brought to break room in a help yourself manner.
they also have a company that brings in a lot of fruit twice a week as a snack or pick me up in afternoon according to their sign.

We have people who seem to feel this is a grocery store I went to rest room and when came back all items gone in 3 minutes. I see people with bags with 4 bananas and some other items pears/ oranges / apples on their desk. they...

Battening Down

October 11th, 2019 at 02:17 AM by My English Castle

When I got home from the university this afternoon, I put on the remaining storm windows and looked up some new soup recipes. It must be fall, eh?

We have only a few weeks left of our CSA share. Right now we have loads and loads of potatoes, onion, leeks, and squash as well as celeriac, kohlrabi, and so much more. I think it'll be leek and potato soup tomorrow--maybe a load of roasted veggies over the weekend.

It's week six of the semester, so buried in grading and work....

Thrift and more

October 10th, 2019 at 11:33 PM by GratefulSaver

I stopped at a thrift store after work (mainly because I spotted a parking spot) and I snagged a nice white winter sweater for $3.99 and a hardcover book of one of my favorite authors for a $1.99. I usually don't spend money on books as of late, but for $2, I decided not to pass it up. Good entertainment for little money.

My husband has been working a lot of overtime hours and I am grateful that we will be adding a more significant amount to our savings account. I am, however...

Ugghh

October 10th, 2019 at 05:39 PM by CB in the City

I feel really awful today. I got a terrible night's sleep. I was stressed about things and I tossed and turned, and had nightmares when I did sleep.

I felt better once I got my early-morning medical appointments done (mammogram and ultrasound). I wish I could nap before music lessons this afternoon, but lying down didn't get me anywhere. So I just have to get through this day and hope I sleep well tonight.

I got my order of briefs from Amazon (second seller) but they...

Power Is Out

October 10th, 2019 at 05:38 PM by Petunia 100

My area is experiencing a planned power outage. The power went out early Wednesday morning between midnight and 4am. The utility company, PG&E, said to plan on no power for up to 7 days.

As you know, I work for the county in a clerical position. While some county buildings are equipped with generators, mine is not.

My office was told to report for work Wednesday morning as usual and await further instructions. So I did, sat in the dark twiddling my thumbs for 40 minutes...

Update

October 10th, 2019 at 05:13 AM by Sarah

It's been so long I don't know where to start. I'm back at work now, I have been for a while. I forgot how difficult it is when they're babies and going to work. L is so excited to see me when I'm home.

We received J's autism diagnosis. We also disputed his school placement. He starts a new school soon.

We owe MIL money from at the start of the year when we were behind on hubby's credit card. I'm finally able to start paying her back.

I haven't started Christmas shopping...
