Got the Car Back

November 23rd, 2019 at 01:54 PM by CB in the City

I got my car back yesterday afternoon, early enough that I could take the boys to music lessons. Afterwards we had dinner at McDonalds. I'll be reimbursed for that. It was under $10, anyway.

So yesterday's payout was $500 for the deductible. Though that hurts, it's so nice to have the car again! But I'm driving like a 90-year-old; I'm so afraid of another accident! I know I'll get over it eventually.

Today I'm going to the gym and then grocery shopping. I'm going to...

SO Update

November 23rd, 2019 at 12:45 PM by Amber

SO called this morning in tears. He said that his life is in shambles. He told me he sits and looks in the space that he’s living in and it looks a mess, because he doesn’t have a drawer to put his clothes in. He also said, he understands why, I wouldn’t want to be with him, and that if he was a woman, he wouldn’t want to be with him either.

He went on to say, he has nothing. He’s lost a ton of weight, over 15lbs, was extremely sick a few weeks ago and is to have...

Still No Car

November 22nd, 2019 at 03:15 PM by CB in the City

I was supposed to take the boys to music lessons today, but still no car. I called the shop and they say it will be ready this afternoon. That's cutting it too close. DIL is going to take off early to do lessons. I'll take the train/bus to the shop this afternoon. Depending on wait times, it may take an hour to get there!

I'm watching weather warnings about Thanksgiving. It looks like we are most likely to get rain, which will not stop me. But if it's rain turning to...

girl scout problem

November 22nd, 2019 at 02:26 PM by LivingAlmostLarge

I've been feeling super guilty but I am right now trying to remove a girl from my GS troop. She's been in the troop for 2 years and this is the start of the 3rd year. The girls are in 4th grade. A lot has happened and I was asked to recreated a timeline for the district manager so that I can properly document and remove the girl. I am desperately trying to get her removed before our next event 12/6/19 but the DM is moving very slow. Here is a timeline summary I sent them.

Hats Delivered!

November 21st, 2019 at 08:10 PM by DK62565

We did our final hat delivery yesterday to one of the schools. It has been a challenge getting them delivered between DH's eye surgeries and doctor's appointments, school issues, and the weather. But, they are where they need to be and I'm so glad.

The local paper came out and took photos and did a story. Here is the link if you are so inclined to read it:

Pet Supplies

November 21st, 2019 at 02:54 PM by CB in the City

I bought pet supplies yesterday to the tune of $86! This was pellets and pads for the Breeze litter pan system. I bought large amounts to get the best unit price, so these supplies should last a while. It was an Amazon purchase -- they should be here Saturday.

My neighbor came over and we went over the basics of caring for Iggy while I am gone for Thanksgiving. While making small talk, we discovered that she used to vacation as a child in a small, woodsy sailing resort on...

3 Smart Ways to Make Money Online

November 21st, 2019 at 11:06 AM by Jon Anthony

Everyone wants to make more money online, but very few people actually ever figure it out. They think they can Text is make money blogging and Link is https://www.ryrob.com/make-money-online/make money blogging, or by day trading, or even by taking user surveys.

The truth is, however, that very few people successfully earn a living wage on the internet. Over the past several years, I've made money by blogging, and have done quite well for myself...

So, with that in mind, here are three tips I wish I knew when I first started trying to earn cash online.

1. Leverage Your Email List
When it comes to Text is making money online and Link is https://www.masculinedevelopment.com/make-money-online/making money online, having a big email list is a key. Just having a few hundred well-targeted people on your email list can be the difference between feast and famine.

Of course, experienced internet marketers often have over 10,000 or even 100,000 people on their email lists. The more, the better - but what's key is that they're well targeted, because otherwise you won't be able to market anything to them!

2. Learn SEO
I first got started blogging five years ago, and boy have I learned a LOT about SEO. Short for "Search Engine Optimization," Text is SEO and Link is https://moz.com/beginners-guide-to-seoSEO is basically how you get your articles in front of people. Without good SEO, nobody will ever find your blog in the first place.

Some simple ways you can improve your SEO is use relevant images, create helpful content, build strong, authoritative backlinks, and create a strong social media profile.

Just spending an hour or two each week on improving your website's SEO can drastically increase the income you're making online... and best of all, it's free traffic!

3. Target Your Niche
Most people just think they'll be able to start blogging, and will instantly start making money online. Okay, maybe not THAT fast, but they think it will happen a lot faster than it actually will most of the time.

The truth is that if you want to earn a living with a blog, you NEED to focus on a specific niche... and no, I'm not talking about something like "health and fitness." I mean you need to laser-focus into a Text is SPECIFIC niche and...

Two Things

November 20th, 2019 at 02:45 PM by Creditcardfree

Does my blog look blown up to the rest of you? It starts to load correctly, but then just looks huge (or maybe wide) on the screen. Thanks for the feedback!

The second thing is that we received another utility rebate check in the mail for $27.73. This one was also to be direct deposited. I received an email back from the utility servicing company that they are looking into why it was not direct deposited as directed by us.

Pay Day!

November 20th, 2019 at 01:25 PM by CB in the City

It's pay day!

I paid my credit cards (always pay in full) and my mortgage. There's a healthy amount left in checking, which is good, since I'll be writing a $500 check for my car repair soon. I hope soon! There is a possibility my car will be ready today, but I am not holding my breath.

I also paid $100 for the mammogram I had last month. The basic mammogram is free on my plan, but I got an ultrasound as well. I was surprised at the cost, but, oh well, without insurance...

Quarterly bonus!

November 20th, 2019 at 12:14 AM by Steve

We got our quarterly bonus this week. I'm happy to get it, of course, but I do get a bit annoyed by how it is calculated. Parts of it are based on my performance, satisfaction scores, and adherence to quality metrics. I'm fine with all of that. I did miss one of my targets this quarter but that's totally on me so no complaints about that.

The problem is that parts of it are also based on the overall performance of everyone, their scores, and their adherence to quality metrics....

Financial Advisor

November 19th, 2019 at 11:13 PM by Amber

As you all know, I’m trying to learn more about investing. I’m not quite ready yet, but would like to learn.

I met with a financial advisor today who told me, that I can take my rollover IRA, that I’ve contributed funds to after taxes, and roll back into my 401(k) on the job. Now, I’m not that knowledgeable but to my understanding this is a no-no and can be viewed and double dipping. I remember reaching out to a Fidelity adviser who informed me it wouldn’t be best...

Busy Day

November 19th, 2019 at 03:02 PM by CB in the City

Yesterday was quite a day. I caught the train to go downtown (in my city, not the big city), and then I saw the bus I needed parked at the station. It was empty and the door was closed so I waited. Well, apparently it was break time for the driver; I waited quite a while, and I debated walking to the library instead. And I was sitting outside on a bench -- no place to sit inside the station.

But we finally got on the road, and I went to the dealer to pick up my owner's manual,...

Been Busy

November 19th, 2019 at 02:56 PM by klarose

It's been a busy couple weeks.

Took care of some financial things. Got the property taxes all paid, got the mystery 401K contribution from husband's old employer rolled over into his new 401K. Finished the yearly open enrollment for insurance, and I had my baby shower.

I got a ton of stuff. Now I need to sort through all of it and see what I actually need to keep and what I still need. The nursery is not finished so the presents are currently stacked and taking up my entire...

Reduce Your Insurance Rates by Increasing Workplace Safety

November 19th, 2019 at 01:46 PM by Holly Clark

There isn’t a single industry that doesn’t face the risk of injury. And this is why the management needs to take the right measures in ensuring the safety of employees against injuries. One thing that most enterprises don’t understand is that relying only on insurance alone for protection isn’t an effective nor cost-effective strategy. As a matter of fact, the more risk your employees face, the higher the insurance rates you will have to pay.

But, did you know that by...

Snagged Three More Secret Shops

November 19th, 2019 at 03:47 AM by Petunia 100

I applied for, and was assigned, 3 more secret shops this evening. One for next Tuesday (Jack in the Box), one the Tuesday after that (same JitB location), and one the Tuesday after that (a phone shop for tire stores). Still looking forward to being paid for the first one, at the credit union.

I did not calculate the interest exactly right, so did make an adjustment to my 5th wheel loan balance, in my favor. I was using a banker year (360 days) to calculate the interest,...
