Registration

November 27th, 2019 at 12:44 PM by CB in the City

Yesterday I went to the senior center to pay my wheel tax -- once again I could not do it! I did not have my registration. It wasn't in my glove box. I went home and went through everything I could think of and it was not to be found.

I wonder if the policeman who took it during my Indiana fender-bender ever gave it back to me. That was the last time I had my hands on it. I could have left it at BFF's, as well, but she said she had not seen it.

Anyway, I don't dare travel...

wish i was told

November 26th, 2019 at 01:03 PM by Smallsteps

I can blame no one but myself. When i interviewed for this job it was mostly to get a practice interview and be back in a better place for job searching.

The last temp place ended quickly and had made me angry at the incompetence that i was hired for 6 months and it ended at 6 weeks because the manager hired based on false information. The amount of work was grossly overestimated or her regular staff was that slow.

I had doubts before interview thought they would go...

Urgent Care

November 26th, 2019 at 12:39 PM by CB in the City

I went to urgent care yesterday morning to tend to the cat bite. My phone said it opened at 8, but it was really 9, so I went to a coffee shop beforehand, where I spent $7. I had walked there, so going back home wasn't really an option.

Once it opened, it took almost an hour before I actually saw a doctor. The check-in process was the slowest I've ever seen! There was only one clerk, and she seemed very hesitant about every step.

But I finally got in, and the doctor gave...

Washer/Pay Day$$

November 26th, 2019 at 02:33 AM by GratefulSaver

We've been looking for a used washer, but have not been able to find one. It's either too much money for a used one or too old. We gave up on the idea of a used washer and bought a new one. I am grateful that our son allowed us to use his washer at home; it is definitely not the ideal situation. We ended up paying $757 with tax and a five year warranty. I opted for a front loader because the top loaders are a constant reminder of how short I am. I am super careful and I wipe the...

Health Scare

November 25th, 2019 at 11:40 PM by Wink

Back in early November I went in for my yearly mammogram. It came back with a "suspicious" spot. I then went in for a second mammogram which further confirmed something suspicious. I then went in for a needle biopsy. Not terribly painful but still pretty uncomfortable and left me pretty bruised. After a long week of waiting I found out today that it was benign, no cancer! They do still want me to see a breast surgeon for a consultation but I finally feel like I can breathe again....

Apple Watch ⌚️

November 25th, 2019 at 01:52 PM by Amber

Patience and hard work really pays off. I have been wanting an Apple Watch for quite some time, however not willing to pay the $400+ for one. Plus I wasn’t willing to finance One through my cell phone carrier, or put on a credit card.

My employer has a wellness program, in that I can participate in wellness activities, earning points that equate to dollars that then turns into gift cards. I earned enough points to purchase a brand new Apple Watch. Target now has the series...

Cat Bite

November 25th, 2019 at 01:31 PM by CB in the City

Last night Iggy bit me! I'm not sure what happened. I was petting him and he suddenly snapped. I think he was more surprised than I was. I must have touched a bad spot. Anyway, he broke the skin, so I cleaned carefully and applied a topical antibiotic. I'm going to urgent care today to get it checked out. I know that cat bites are potentially dangerous. I would have gone last night, but it happened after the urgent care closed.

The prescription I filled yesterday was...

My Sister Might Move In

November 25th, 2019 at 09:36 AM by Lucky Robin

My sister (who is 61, I'm 11 1/2 years younger) hurt herself on the job a while back and can no longer lift the elderly out of their beds or help load them into vehicles for transport. Right now she's going through a thing where the doctor evaluates her for whether or not she can resume this duty or not. Sister says not. If the doctor says she can and they make her, her condition is going to get worse. This is one of those work claim doctors, not one that you know and trust,...

Some Big News

November 24th, 2019 at 11:07 PM by TD

Spending this week was totally on track, which was great. BF and I did have an impromptu date night. He paid for dinner, I grabbed drinks after - but given that I've hardly touched my restaurant/bar budget for the month, I'm still tracking. Which is good, as we'll be going out a couple of times when we're in Ohio this week.

***

The big news isn't all that surprising, but definitely has a serious bearing on my life. My boss is selling our Nashville restaurant. It's been struggling...

Student Loan Saga

November 24th, 2019 at 09:33 PM by Amber

Just adjusted my budget and I’ll be able to drop $700 on CC10. I’m so excited.
I think this card will be paid off by March and I can finally, start tackling my student loans.

I just want to cry, I was feeling like I’ll never be able to start tackling the loans. If I hadn’t gotten hit with the legal bill earlier this year, this card would have been gone in June. I know I can’t/shouldn’t beat my self up about it but I just can’t help thinking about the what if’s....

Sunday Morning

November 24th, 2019 at 01:43 PM by CB in the City

My grocery shopping yesterday totaled $62. That was more than I expected to spend, but I went ahead and bought the food I'm going to take to Thanksgiving, as well as doubling up on some items that were on sale and that I always buy.

Variables are at 76% and I still have a trip ahead of me. Luckily, it is now sounding like Wednesday will be a good day to travel in my area.

Today I'm going to fill a prescription (a cheap one) and do a load of laundry. I'm going to walk to...

Saturday Update

November 24th, 2019 at 04:56 AM by Amber

My Friday night’s ritual, usually consists of a shower, review my cash envelopes and balance them, then get excited when I come in under budget, lol. I do this every Friday. I love tracking my spending. Even though I’m still trending to come in under budget by next pay date, Friday, I get a big kick out of where I am with my spending each week.

This week wasn’t too bad, when it came to spending. I did cave in and buy a soda and dined our yesterday.

Yesterday’s...

TSP Update

November 23rd, 2019 at 05:56 PM by terri77

I went ahead & updated my TSP contribution to $750 a pay period to reflect the 2020 limit increase. Sometimes the TSP can be slow with updating contribution amounts. It’s okay if it kicks in before the end of the year as the plan won’t allow you to contribute over the limit.
