Ultra Frugal Month and Payday

January 10th, 2020 at 02:56 PM by crazyliblady

Well, it's another payday here for me. Whee!!

So, I have already paid all bills due. I have deposited money into savings. I have allocated for the mortgage and car insurance.

I also allocated $100.00 for the upcoming car maintenance to be done early next month. That is part of my UFM Challenge, figuring out how to pay for it without going into debt to do it.

I know I have some pocket change leftover. I am going to use that to pay for part of the grocery bill and make...

No-Spend Day

January 10th, 2020 at 02:20 PM by CB in the City

Yesterday was a no-spend day, and I expect today will be another one -- except for one load of laundry. I have decided to designate Friday as the day to wash sheets and towels.

I've been eating out of the freezer and doing very little cooking. Today I'm going to make tuna salad, though, because I want to use up some celery.

We may have a snowstorm tomorrow, which may mess with my gym schedule. I try to go every three days to do the strength training, and I've been pretty...

Little Catch Up Blurb for Yesterday

January 10th, 2020 at 09:48 AM by Lucky Robin

Not too much happened yesterday. I am a little bit better with the sinus infection today than yesterday, but still am not sleeping as well as I had hoped I'd be by now. Hence the 1:40 a.m. post. Are they ever going to fix the time stamp in the blogs? I've asked about it a few times. It's not been right for months. And still no icons. Anyway, my hip is acting up again because I spent so much time in bed and the chiropractor being on vacation for two weeks over Christmas....

Payday Report for 1/10/20

January 10th, 2020 at 09:35 AM by Lucky Robin

So the new paycheck amount with the FSA money being taken out of it is $105 and some change, but the difference in paycheck amount is $87 and change because more being taken out pretax affected it post tax. That's not bad at all. We did get the FSA debit card thing sorted out. It was because it was Walgreens and they have sell other things, so we had to make sure it was run as a pharmacy purchase. Anyway, I've done up all the bills already since I could see the pending paycheck...

Different Ways to Arrange Capital to Start a New Tech Startup

January 10th, 2020 at 03:23 AM by ChrisGreenwalty

According to a report, more than 90% of the businessmen fail to operate their operations due to various reasons. Among these reasons, one of the most common reasons is the lack of funding. Money is also considered as bloodline for any business. That’s why almost all the businessmen are found to ask at every stage of the business that ‘How to get enough capital to start a new setup?’. Therefore, it is necessary for entrepreneurs to raise enough funds while starting a new startup....

Thank you Jesus !

UFM Update

January 9th, 2020 at 03:01 PM by crazyliblady

Since starting my UFM on January 3rd, I have made considerable progress on my UFM goals.

1. Car maintenance - ca. $400 - I have not decided on the plan for this yet, but it will probably be a combination of setting some money aside and using the credit card

2. Road Trip #1 - have some money set aside, but need about $200 more, probably

3. Road Trip #2 - have some money already set aside, but need about $1100 more

4. AAA membership - paid in full tomorrow, 1/10, with...

Success!

January 9th, 2020 at 02:54 PM by CB in the City

The good news is that Iggy ate some wet food this morning! In fact, I saw him at the food bowl twice. I have taken away the dry food, so he is forced -- but I was afraid he might choose not to eat at all. With his kidney disease, it is important that he eat wet food. The kidney diet food would be best, but he won't eat that, and dying of malnutrition isn't a good thing, either. I read several articles on the subject, and it appears that a wet food that is 60% protein and 40%...

10 Years (Belated)

January 9th, 2020 at 03:24 AM by Laura

In January 2010 I was single and woefully underemployed. I was working for minimum wage at a small local health club - I'd started the job over a year earlier, a few months before being laid off from my oil and gas job. I was renting a room in a lady's home - loved her pets! She was jealous I think of the attention her pets gave me (sorry, but dogs tend to gravitate to those who consistently walk and play with them ...)

I was also taking classes towards my Master's in Library...

This and That

January 8th, 2020 at 05:43 PM by CB in the City

I'm really trying to keep spending down, but I had to go to PetSmart this morning to get some cat food that Iggy might eat (he's rejecting the kidney food) and some probiotics. That was $38. Aldi is right next door, so I went over there and spent $5 on a few items. I also paid a $25 copay for the urgent care I received after the cat bite in November. It just now appeared on my account.

And last night I took the boys to IHOP for dinner, which cost $29. Variables are at 28%.

I...

Animals and Taxes

January 8th, 2020 at 04:06 PM by klarose

Another good thing that happened this week. I finally took pictures and re-posted my puppies and was able to sell several of them. A couple are waiting to be picked up, and I am still in contact with more possible buyers. Hopefully in the next week or so I will be down to just a couple. Which is much more manageable and cheaper.

I am also selling some goats tomorrow. The little bit of money will be a welcome help.

Am I the only one bugging about taxes already? I am checking...

Finishing the Nursery

January 8th, 2020 at 03:51 PM by klarose

We met our goal and got the nursery construction DONE! Well mostly...

We finished the wall rebuilding, drywalling, mudding and taping, priming, painting, new ceiling fan, fixed the electric, built a closet, and handmade all our own trim. Husband took off last weekend and we were able to knock it all out.

We cleaned and cleaned the original 100+ yr old hardwood floors but no matter what we did they are in terrible shape. They are very splintery, parts of the floor is completely...

Spending so far: UFM

January 8th, 2020 at 02:44 PM by Sarah

I just totalled up my spending so far:

Groceries: 92.33
Online shopping for kids: 24.55

I didn't realise I was close to £100. 76.73 of it was our weekly online grocery shop. Next week we're going to Aldi.

Eldest needed a few basics and J needed swimwear for school. My work had a special discount event. I decided to order online to prevent impulse buys. I did have to pay £2.95 delivery but I'm okay with that.

J also needs glasses. I didnt want to take him to get...

2020 Goal Setting

January 8th, 2020 at 02:34 PM by Jazzy

DH and I have been having lots of money talks, and we've come up with some 2020 goals. Full disclosure, we're working on a refinance that would give us the cash to handle the house projects in addition to removing PMI and lowering our mortgage payment by $300. If for whatever reason, it doesn't work out, then the home projects will be removed.

Debt Payoff:
1) Pay off big student loan - Original balance was $16k. There's a measly $225.22 left which will be paid off this month.
2)...

Smallsteps

observations

January 8th, 2020 at 01:47 PM by Smallsteps

How often do you look around or actually observe the small piece of world around you??

I am very bored at work and I am trying to appease myself into staying at least half the year to my contract end date. I am running out of diversions to take up time. So I started to look around and observe co-workers to find what makes these people tick and make them seem ok with the boredom. ( many are not as bored as they seem to have difficulty doing the tasks or end up redoing...
