And the Beat Goes On

March 30th, 2020 at 12:58 AM by Lucky Robin

I came down with a head cold for a few days, but fortunately it was short and did not have the same symptoms as Covid19, so I wasn't spending the whole time freaked out. I had a very wet cough, though, that precipitated a couple asthma attacks. I used my nebulizer twice to open up my lungs. But I actually feel a lot more human than I have in months.

I've got a couple ladies who want to buy rabbits off me. I think the plan will be to meet in the feed store parking lot and...

Still plugging along.

Working from home.
I do not miss my commute however I really do not like working from home.

I am not sending extra to my debt for the foreseeable future. I am trying to conserve cash in the event of a job loss.

Stay well everyone.

Up and Down

March 29th, 2020 at 12:18 PM by CB in the City

Well, my son continues to improve but his wife has gone downhill. Now it's her I'm worried about. I won't rest easy until they are both free of symptoms.

My son's boss sent them a huge care package with food, groceries, toys, etc. They are over the moon. That was really very nice, and it lifted their spirits so. The kids especially were extremely excited.

I wondered how my son ever got infected in the first place, but my ex reminded me that he did a lot of training in...

Interesting Times

March 29th, 2020 at 02:07 AM by Creditcardfree

It is so interesting to see the contrast of these times we are in. My husband is actually working more now...a home deployment of sorts. I don't even get the mission and even he says it seems off and strange. But we are both thankful he has a job, when so many do not.

Stimulus money. Absolutely do not need it. At least in the short term. If we are on the edge of a depression who knows what we might need. I pray the everyone can go back to work very, very soon. I did have the...

COVID-19 Pt. 3

March 29th, 2020 at 01:15 AM by terri77

I worked a 12 hour shift at the hospital today. 🏥 Every time I work there seems to be another added layer of protection. In the lobby they stop all employees. 🛑 We have our temperature taken & are given a mask to wear. 😷 🌡 They also give us a meal ticket for the cafeteria. 🎫

My event tickets for my canceled trip to Montreal will be defunded. 🇨🇦 That should be about $1k. Also, I bought trip insurance for my flight so that will be refunded. ✈️ I plan...

Checking In

March 28th, 2020 at 04:34 PM by Monkey Mama

We've been on lockdown for just over a week I guess.

MM(16) was offered the summer job last week. They asked him to go in Wednesday? ??? Then quickly thought better of it. I doubt he will have a job at all. Will see...

MH's employer has been in extreme denial. It seems pretty obvious to us they are closed until fall (MH usually has the summers off). He works with the schools. They gave him about 70% pay and sent him home, last two weeks. It started "one day at a time"...

Student Loans vs Everything Else

March 28th, 2020 at 01:12 PM by Amber

Hi all

So student loan interest has stopped for six months.

I’m debating on stopping my loan payments for the six months as well and going full ham on the principal of one of my loans.

What I mean is, my payments are income driven, one is $69 the other is $99. If I stop the payments, I can take any extra money I have, plus what I would have been paying and dumping it on the lowest balance. I can also, take the stimulus check and throw at it.

If I stick to the...

He's Better!

March 28th, 2020 at 11:20 AM by CB in the City

I talked to my son yesterday and he was feeling better. He had had a better night with only one episode of night sweats. In the morning, he had no fever. His chest is still constricted but overall he feels like he has turned a corner. I hope that continues today. I know this is a weird disease that goes up and down before it resolves. His wife and children are less affected than he is and they are doing well.

Thank you to all who expressed kindness and concern. I do so...

Smallsteps

mixed bag of thoughts

March 27th, 2020 at 02:42 PM by Smallsteps

I feel for all those out there that either are at risk and worried or having a difficult time during this crisis.
I am really done with all this BS we are getting in the media as the numbers ( often different by every source)are not making sense.they simply do NOT have REAL numbers too many may have had with mild or no symptoms and recovered these will never be confirmed.
In my area a local death was being reported without the patients age/ health issues or other complications...

Living in the Era of COVID-19: Coping Strategies

March 27th, 2020 at 02:42 PM by Fern

Living alone, I feel I have both an advantage and a disadvantage when it comes to COVID-19. The advantage is that there is no one in close quarters on a regular basis who could possibly infect me, and I can control my home environment much better since it's just me; the disadvantage is that I am going without the social interaction and just plain comfort of having others around me.

I am actually pretty okay with hunkering down; my biggest dread is doing the weekly grocery shopping....

Update

March 27th, 2020 at 01:34 PM by CB in the City

I checked in with my son yesterday and he was no better. In fact, he was worse, because his breathing was getting worse. The fever has not abated. My ex advised him to go back the ER. Apparently, he spoke by phone to the ER doctor who treated him a few days ago, and he said not to come unless he felt like he had just run a marathon. He was not that bad, so he didn't. I don't know what to think. I'm scared.

Also, his bosses are pressuring him to get tested, even though...

Home Refinancing

March 27th, 2020 at 07:15 AM by Amber

I’m considering refinancing my house. It appears as though I can get it down by two percentage points.

One thing I can’t stand and that is feeling rushed. I keep getting the send this by this time and that time etc. Well the broker sends me the documents at about 9 pm last night, tells me to review and sign by 10 am. Wtf I work.

She tells me in the email, I’m getting a $2,000 refund or I can use the money to buy down my interest. I’m excited about the refund but...

Home From Cruise

March 27th, 2020 at 01:43 AM by Petunia 100

Well, that was an eventful vacation. As you know, we were booked on the Caribbean Princess. We flew to Fort Lauderdale, Florida on Tuesday, 3/10/20. My daughter drove from Illinois and met us at our motel. We were having dinner in the attached restaurant about 9pm when I received emails from Princess that our cruise had been cancelled. The email also said we would receive a 100% refund plus a 100% credit towards a future Princess voyage. (I have already received credits to my credit...

Antivirus Buyer’s Remorse

March 26th, 2020 at 10:42 PM by Life Balance

Well I purchased Norton Lifelock for my computer’s antivirus protection since it was only $20 and I already have buyer’s remorse. I can’t get it to complete the install – it keeps requesting a reboot again and again – and the online technical support isn’t available because of the coronavirus according to their website. If ever there was a job that was conducive to working remotely, I would’ve thought that online technical support would be it, but apparently not....

COVID-19 Pt.2

March 26th, 2020 at 07:50 PM by terri77

Yes, same subject...part 2.

Random thoughts & updates in no particular order of importance:

1. My state has the fastest growing rate of infection in the country. Mardi Gras really increased the infection rate exponentially.

2. Still working both jobs as an essential health care professional.

3. Schools closed for 4 weeks under an order from the governor until April 13th.

4. Stay at home order began at 5 p.m. this past Monday.

5. I am quarantining myself from...

Covid19 still

March 26th, 2020 at 06:50 PM by Good Living

So my location on campus is considered a computer lab apparently (grrr...) and so we're still open. My spouse has severe asthma and we're very concerned about if she would get it. It would devastate me if I brought that home to her. I'm mostly working from home. Our state has a "stay home" order but my job is exempt. We'll see if they close the campus or somehow I don't have to go in. We have had 346 cases and two deaths as of today. I peeked at my retirement down $100k and I'm...
