Virtual Doctor Visit

May 23rd, 2020 at 02:59 PM by CB in the City

My virtual doctor visit went well. It was a video call, so we could see each other as we talked. My doctor advised that I get a COVID antibody test and a chest x-ray. The test is scheduled for Tuesday morning, and, since the x-ray is a walk-in, I'll do that the same day. It is not the same location, but I like to bundle my outings, so to speak. I will probably make a Panera run the same day as well.

I got ten hours of sleep last night! I guess my body finally demanded...

Auto Insurance - Another Refund Payment

May 23rd, 2020 at 12:59 PM by Creditcardfree

We have our auto insurance through USAA. We have three cars on our policy. Just like many of you we received a credit recently because fewer people are on the road, less risk, ect. That first credit was $97.45.

We were notified this week we are receiving another one month credit, specifically 20% of what is equal to one month premium. For us that is $46.39.

Our six month premium was due May 4, so the first credit did reduce our payment owed. Now we have this credit, so...

12 months is my goal

May 23rd, 2020 at 05:53 AM by mumof2

I have set a goal to buy a house in 12 months time...we are finally getting back on track and that is my new goal, we have paid off the CC a couple months ago...updated the car so now its time to get saving for a house...its a bit harder to know what we need to get as our daughter who has a chronic illness and can't work will be living with us but she also wants her own house/space especially since she wants kids...and deposits over here are so expensive...unlike the US...so it...

to move or not to move?

May 23rd, 2020 at 01:33 AM by mumof2

This house has been better than our last house in so many different ways but also has some issues that the owner just takes their lazy time fixing or just doesn't bother...we have complained about the roof and gutter being cleaned for months we live in a high risk fire area in summer so have to keep the yard cleaned up etc...but the owner won't, the gutters shoould have been cleaned months ago and they haven't bothered we have asked several times and now with all the rains and...

Logging old Walmart Items

May 22nd, 2020 at 05:50 PM by Banker Gurl

I found these awesome deals at Walmart back in OCTOBER....oops! Little behind on logging them! But I just posted them for sale since they are spring items and I am already completely sold out! They had a lot more sprinklers when I bought them, but I have never resold sprinklers before so I wasn't sure how many to get. Now I know for next time to stock up as I had many more people wanting to buy! Waiting for a few to be picked up by my regular buyers, but everything is...

Another COVID cancellation

May 22nd, 2020 at 03:19 PM by Steve

I was planning to attend a medical conference in St. Louis in early July. I booked the hotel months ago. I realized that I haven't heard anything about the status of the convention itself so I went to their website last night and sure enough it has been cancelled.

I checked my saved email and it turns out that while I had made the hotel reservation, I had never actually registered for the convention which is why I didn't get a cancellation notice. Makes sense.

I went on and...

Post Office and Upcoming Doc Visit

May 22nd, 2020 at 01:21 PM by CB in the City

Yesterday I walked to the post office to mail a book to BFF. The postage was $3. Along the way I gave a dollar to a man who asked for help.

When I got home, I made an appointment with my doctor (for today) to discuss the cough that has been hanging on too long. Well, my doctor's nurse heard "cough" and did not want me to come in. We will do a telephone visit. His nurse recommended a COVID test. I tried to explain that I probably already had COVID in March, based on the...

Summer is Coming

May 22nd, 2020 at 02:26 AM by My English Castle

DD and I masked up and spent a good part of the afternoon at Costco. Costco itself did a great job with safety, masking their employees, wiping down the carts, and installing plexiglass at the register. But old habits are hard for people to break and I think one-way aisles at all stores for now would be a great idea. We bought a lot, so I'm glad we won't be going back for a while. It was the first time I've been in a store since March 13.

On to good news: my semester is...

Booking a trip for October 2021

May 21st, 2020 at 06:50 PM by Steve

We love to travel but we are not major planners. We rarely plan our Disney World trips more than 3 months in advance and rarely plan other trips any farther out than that. We might know when and where we want to go but don't usually make all of the plans far in advance.

The only exception is when we're attending a specific event like a convention or something like that.

Disney World's 50th anniversary is October 1, 2021. Disney opens room-only bookings 499 days in advance,...

Still Here Moseying

May 21st, 2020 at 02:32 PM by klarose

Still here, still moseying along. I am getting quite adjusted to this more laid back life. I've always been a busy bee who rushes to multiple things every single day. I won't lie. It's been nice not having to set an alarm (the baby wakes me by 7 anyway, lol) not have to rush to get ready to work, visit a bunch of people, etc. I work from home, enjoy my baby, piddle around the house and clean, watch some tv finally, spend time with my animals, etc.

After essentially maternity...

Online Shopping

May 21st, 2020 at 11:39 AM by CB in the City

Yesterday I ordered a new frame for DS's graduation picture, a supply of Command strips, and a kitchen clock. All from Amazon; total was $47. I am trying to keep up on household things, even though no one will be coming around. My kitchen clock has been nonfunctional for some time, and I keep glancing at that blank space on the wall to see the time. I can always look at the stove instead, where the time is displayed, but I like a wall clock. I ordered one with a red case;...

52 Week Mega Money Challenge Week 1

May 21st, 2020 at 07:25 AM by VS-from-oz

To get our credit cards under control, I have decided to do a 52 week challenge, as these have worked so well in the past. This time the one I am doing is the 52 week Mega Money Challenge which starts at a $5 payment and finishes at a $260 payment. The total amount repaid on our credit cards would be $6890, which will be split exactly in half.

B owes roughly $3700 on his and I have two cards in which I owe around $4200 excluding the pet expenses which we will be repaying soon.

I...

Hubby has only 14 treatments to go...it feels like forever but at the same time it feels like it is going so fast...he is coping pretty well and takes himself to the appointments..he does get tired and also uncomfortable at night but other than that is doing okay...hopefully once treatment is done we get the all clear and can move on..if not then we will see what the next steps are.

It has been cold wet and horrible here and my body feels broken...I hate winter and we still...

Pay Day

May 20th, 2020 at 04:37 PM by CB in the City

Pay day is here, and I had a few challenges with the new computer. Even though I keep a list of ids/passwords, apparently the one I had for Chase was out of date. I tried the "forgot password" route on their website, but that took me to a page that wasn't working. I had to call to get online, and it took two different people to get it done, because I was cut off the first time. Very frustrating.

But now everything is paid, and I still have a nice balance in checking. I'll...

Additions to the Pot of Possibilities

May 19th, 2020 at 02:49 PM by Creditcardfree

A few credit card rewards have been tossed into the Pot of Possibilities this month. I usually report these at the end of the month and I will again at the end of May. But it's kind of fun to write about tossing them into our new pot!

Chase Freedom $49.38
US Bank $12.32
American Express $52.86

That is $114.56 into the pot in addition to our two monthly contributions of $260 each. These happen on payday.

Next month I'm increasing the two monthly contribution to $310 each...

DH Got A Job!!!

May 19th, 2020 at 02:22 AM by VS-from-oz

Very happy to say that yesterday DH got offered a job!

He had a second interview on Friday with the company's general manager and got offered the job yesterday.

He did have to take a $10,000 pay reduction however paycuts are happening right across the industry so we were prepared for that and were fine with it. What he is getting paid is still good for us and we can continue to live comfortably.

He starts next Monday, and it makes him unemployed for just under a month,...

It's Here!

May 19th, 2020 at 12:22 AM by CB in the City

I'm typing this now on my new computer, which I got set up, basically, without TOO much trouble. I can get to the internet and I can get to my spreadsheets, which are on a thumb. I'll worry about the rest later.

The mouse that came with it didn't work at all, so I just hooked up the old one and it's fine. I don't like to use a laptop without a mouse.

I don't think my devices (i.e. this PC and my phone) are properly synced. I downloaded the required app on my phone, but...

So Much Garden Work this Week and Getting Ready to Go

May 18th, 2020 at 10:26 PM by Lucky Robin

It's been a tiring last several days but we got the ground garden weeded, rototilled, put up the bean supports, formed it into trench rows, and planted four rows of green beans and a block of corn that was 8 across down the length of the ground garden. I got my zucchini planted, my bee balm and larkspur transplanted, four of my six tomato plants in garbage bins, the remaining two potted up into 2 gallon pots, my ten pepper plants planted, and my pickling cucumbers in.

We also...
