Paid off CC10

May 30th, 2020 at 11:58 PM by Amber

My organization has opened back up, and today I paid off my final credit card.

I’m so happy that this card is gone, you have no idea.
Yes my savings is lower, but I’m okay with that. I’ll be able to add $300 to it on Friday and another $800 by the end of June.

It was scary but I went ahead and hit the send button. Now I’ll continue to save, student loan repayments begin in October and that will be my focus.

I’m excited because I met the goal of paying...

May Checkin

May 30th, 2020 at 04:43 PM by latestart

Had a medical procedure at the beginning of the month. Results were not exactly what I wanted but could have been worse.

Set up a spot to work at in basement. So it is getting a little better. I also go into the office about 2 days a week.

Debt is going down slowly.

Anyone else feeling a bit guilty about doing well right now?

May 30th, 2020 at 03:25 PM by Steve

I suppose it's sort of like survivor's guilt. So many people are suffering with so much right now - disease, unemployment, having to home school their kids, having summer camp cancelled, struggling to keep their businesses afloat, and more.

Meanwhile, here we are with me still fully employed earning my normal income. My wife is very happily quarantined and almost couldn't care if things open up again or not. Our daughter is unemployed but fortunately not suffering financially...

Repaired!

May 30th, 2020 at 11:13 AM by CB in the City

The appliance repair technician was scheduled to come yesterday sometime between 2 and 6. He didn't come until almost 7. Of course, I was just hanging around home anyway, but it felt like a wasted day, because I didn't really want to get started on anything that might get interrupted.

I paid a service call of $70, and he reassembled and tested the microwave and reset something on the air conditioner that got it working. He did not charge me for labor because it went so quickly....

Can 2020 get any worse?

May 30th, 2020 at 08:02 AM by Good Living

So I live in a suburb of Minneapolis. I have been staying up really late the last few night listening to social media about the police killing and the riots. I absolutely believe that there are issues with law enforcement and bias against people of color. That's not really what I'm going to talk about. The impression I got from listening to the Mayor of Minneapolis and the Governor of the state is that they were sympathetic about folks needing to grieve but that it's gotten out...

Almost June, already?!

May 30th, 2020 at 01:54 AM by Laura

Time sure does seem to be passing quickly. It seems like I just barely finish the data process for one month when its time to start the process all over again.

I took a couple days off this week to attempt to get some home projects done. I did actually manage to accomplish a few things - changed out my winter clothes for spring/summer clothes, and used a Rug Doctor on our upstairs carpets. I also strongly hinted to my DH about wanting to have someone come and tile our bathroom...

My English Castle

Keeping Busy and Moving Forward

May 29th, 2020 at 09:47 PM by My English Castle

Today was my daughter's last day of high school. It was, as expected, very anticlimactic. They'll take cap and gown photos next week. She started the process for an online summer class at my home campus, transferable to her university this fall. Once the paperwork goes through, she'll be set.

I participated in an online focus group about online education for 90 minutes today for which I'll receive $100. It was fun and interesting to meet with nine educators from all over...

I'm surviving

May 29th, 2020 at 06:02 PM by Fern

Spring can be a VERY busy time of year around here. Unfortunately, I pulled a hamstring a month ago, mostly ignored it and as a consequence it really hasn't improved much. My knee is incredibly stiff. Yesterday was really the first day I tried to do as little walking on it as possible, and today I'll do the same, but tomorrow will be a good weather day and I REALLY need to install the hardware cloth on the bottom of the 2nd raised bed and fill at least half the raised bed with...

Trying New Things!

May 29th, 2020 at 03:27 PM by Creditcardfree

It's a time of discovery. A time to create the new lives we want to live! Despite not being able to garden IN our postage size yard, I did meet my desire to plant some food this spring. I am growing, sweet peppers, basil and a patio tomato plant. I also stuck the end of celery in one of my pots to see what happens. I may not do it right, but I'm trying! I have grown tomatoes before, just not in a pot. The basil is growing fast and it's a bit hard to keep up. However, today I will...

Payday Friday

May 29th, 2020 at 02:57 PM by terri77

It’s payday Friday & I received 2 of my paychecks. Hopefully they’ll have my third check for me at my new job this evening. I thought it would be direct deposited, but maybe it will take another cycle before that starts.

This payday I wrote checks for my state & federal taxes, as well as a donation to my high school alma mater. They took out my full loan amount for my TSP, so they will need to refund me the overpayment as my loan will be paid off. My increased TSP contribution...

Repair Fail

May 29th, 2020 at 12:46 PM by CB in the City

The new handle for the microwave arrived yesterday, and I was feeling energetic so I set right to making the repair. I found a good video on YouTube. But I had some major problems.

First of all, the previous owner, it turned out, had superglued the old handle to the screw inside the door. I had to literally tear up the handle to get it loose, and I really didn't think I would ever get the screw out. At some point I decided I would have to buy a new microwave anyway, so I...

Smallsteps

some places/ people making it worse

May 28th, 2020 at 01:19 PM by Smallsteps

I am in awe everyday at the amount of complete mess this pandemic has brought to light.

We will learn very little as all the data seems corrupt i have only seen one state go back and try to correct their official counts on death as EVERY death is counted as a covid death in many many places.

NOW due to the complete lack of foresight for FRAUD some states mine included have been overrun with fraudulent claims. SO now all the unemployment numbers are corrupted...

Negative

May 28th, 2020 at 12:09 PM by CB in the City

The result of my antibody test is negative. That doesn't mean I didn't have a mild case, but it does mean that I did not develop detectable antibodies. I'm a little disappointed, but I was planning to continue being very careful anyway.

It was warm enough yesterday that I decided to turn on my air conditioners. But one of them would not turn on. I checked the cord and the outlet, and they were fine. I looked up troubleshooting, which suggested getting to the internal control...

52 Week Mega Money Challenge Week 2

May 28th, 2020 at 06:53 AM by VS-from-oz

Because I'm trying to be diligent with our mega money credit card challenge I made sure that on our payday, the challenge payments were made also.

This week it was my turn to have $100 on my cards so I have listed that my share has been paid for the $200 week. I have split the payments into $33 on my NAB card and $67 on my Virgin card; this has been based on the proportion of both cards owing at the start of the challenge.

And because this week it was B's turn to have...
