Ugh...things have been rough. I have been dealing with dr's appointments and tests. Things seem to be getting better medically, but I have not been doing well financially. I have just been functioning. Getting through. Bare minimum of everything.

I hope I can get my focus back and get out of my funk.

Well, it was a busy morning yesterday. I went to Kohl's and exchanged my bras. I couldn't do that curbside, but going in to customer service was fine -- the store was quite empty, and everyone was wearing masks. Then I went to the Goodwill drive-up and dropped off four bags of donations. Then went through a car wash. Then went to DSW and bought a pair of booties. Got a house for my mom to rent today...have been looking for 6 months and we finally got one today..so excited..so have been doing emails and paperwork all day to get things done..she doesn't move for 3 weeks but we have a date and everything pretty much ready to go so she will be packing up the rest of her stuff and we will move the money on monday (its friday here and late in the afternoon)..we are all so excited.

I got a call from the ceiling contractor yesterday, and he sent over the painter to look over the situation. It sounds like they are going to schedule the repair for next week. I started to move the small things in the living room already.

I'm happy to say that we're now at Week 13 of the 52 Week Mega Money Challenge (in which both DH & I are repaying part of our credit card debt), which marks 25% of the way done!

The credit cards are slowly getting there. It's just great to see progress on the goal as well as sticking to the goal, which is sometimes easier than done!

My employee is going out on maternity leave next week. We’re having a low-key, socially distanced baby shower for her. This is her second baby so I don’t think she’ll be too disappointed with not having a huge celebration. I got her my usual shower gift which is lot of bath supplies. Johnson & Johnson has a new newborn line so I got her that as well as the bedtime & soothing products.

I was going to wait until the end of the month to look at this but I happened to check today. We're almost 2/3 of the way through 2020. It's remarkable how much of an impact COVID has had on our spending.

In 2019, our average monthly spending came to $6,657 or $79,884 for the entire year.

So far in 2020, our average monthly spending is only about $5,190. Extrapolated out for 12 months that will be just $62,280, almost $18,000 less than last year.

Pay day is not usually exciting anymore, just routine -- but today I made the final payment on my car, so to speak. When I bought my car, I didn't have quite enough to pay cash outright, so I charged the balance. I charged it to a no-interest card. Today I paid it off, well before the time when interest would kick in. I already adjusted my budget to pay that amount to my mortgage next month, and from then on. That is exciting, too.

Its payday tomorrow but going to transfer some money and do the shopping today since we have a few errands to run...that way we save on a trip and don't have to go out in public as much...although it isn't bad here it is still flu season and don't want to risk it.

When I got home today from taking our 19 yr old cat, Baby, to the vet (who we were thinking we'd have to let go of two weeks ago .. but he's holding on,) I got a Facetime call from my mom.

It's been a rough week because I twisted something in my knee, the knee formerly known as the good knee, and it swelled up with a ton of fluid which made it hard to walk. I've been icing it and finally took some water pills to help with the excess fluid and the pain has eased up a little. I hope I didn't tear anything. My son needed a ride from the auto shop yesterday. While I was out, I went to Walgreens and spent $21 -- $6 on groceries (nuts and candy), $12 on cosmetics (brow pencil), and $3 on a get-well card. Variables are at 49%. The candy was for a fund-raiser to support teachers.

My monthly total for groceries is $33. I'm really working that pantry and freezer!

Otherwise, everything is on autopilot. Tomorrow is pay day. The bill payments will flow out. All is well!

I purchased a Costco membership through Groupon. The $60 membership includes a $40 gift card & $40 off online. I went to the store to take my picture for my card & ended up deciding to upgrade to the “black card”. I picked up 4 items: orange roughy fish, riced cauliflower, Laughing Cow cheese (really good deal at $4.99 for 4 wheels), and roasted peanuts. Yesterday was the first baseball game organized by the baseball academy my grandson attends. It was held in a very professional-looking field -- however, there was not a bit of shade anywhere! Parents who were already in the know brought umbrellas and sunshade canopies. I roasted. Thank goodness, at least I wore my baseball cap and shaded my face a bit.

The boys lost badly. Altogether, not a good event.

It's been about three weeks since I've made the deliberate decision to get in shape. Actually, my first step was about five months ago when I cut out soda completely. Three weeks ago I cut out other sweets and started an exercise regimen. I run/walk for 30 minutes each day, trying to run more today than I did yesterday.

Then there's my running shoes. They are ten or eleven years old. They're not exactly falling apart, but they've seen better days. I hesitate to buy a new pair...

had my ultrasound today on my neck...it was hard as the way my neck was made my dizziness worse..but the technician was great he helped me sit up and held my shoulders till I was okay to stand by myself then walked me down the hallway...was super nice and he said that everything looked okay so that was nice to hear but will see if the doc says the same.

I feel better from being off the medicine...everyone said I should wait but I didn't and I am feeling better and that is better...

It's August and before we know it, fall will arrive.
