As I may have posted before, I've been working at home due to the pandemic since mid-March. I work p/t, but my hours have been dwindling since then, and in the last few months, I've averaged about 5 hours of work a week!

I finally decided to talk to my boss about it. I told him I needed to stabilize my income and just wanted to be paid what I was getting paid when working on-site, since I'm doing the identical job.

I started my dishwasher in the usual fashion this morning, but it sat there and did nothing. The control panel seems to be dead. I did all the troubleshooting things, checked the breakers, etc., but the machine is just not working. Of course, it's a Saturday!

I washed a sink full of dishes by hand, and I'll handwash until a repairman comes on Monday or Tuesday. I won't call till Monday.

I'm planning a day inside. It's going to be hot, but we're going to get a break tomorrow. I will crank up the air and get things done around the house.

I'll be doing a load of laundry. I am NOT going to go out for lunch. I'm having a bagel and stewed apples for breakfast, and will have spaghetti for lunch, with green beans on the side. Not sure about dinner; I am so often not hungry at dinnertime.

Such a beautiful spring day today...although its not spring till next week we have had such cold wet weather that it has been so nice to get outside, do some yardwork and just some fresh air...also took the dog for a walk and started to spring clean the house...feels so good...and finally feeling good after a few days of having to be in bed.

As of today, I have lost 10 pounds on my diet bet. I have 13 days until weigh in and need to lose 3.7 more pounds. I think I am going to make it. I can see a big difference already and my knees certainly feel better.

The organization I work for is funded largely by state tax dollars. Obviously, the Covid situation will result in fewer tax dollars going to the states. Leadership at my organization has decided, rather than layoffs, to reduce everyone's salary, and reduce the amount they contribute to retirement.

All is well on the home front. We had some wind & rain our way, but nothing terrible. I made it to work bright & early. Hurricane Laura is the strongest hurricane to make landfall in Louisiana in 164 years! It is a miracle that there isn’t more loss of life than is being reported.

Our retirement accounts have done very well in the last 3 weeks. They have gained $1,389.11, only $440 of which were contributions. We have hit our next milestone of $35K. Actually, it is almost $36K. Our next milestone is $50K.

I was told that the job would take three days -- that was back when I had the original meeting with the company owner. In fact, it only took them two days! They did a wonderful job. The ceiling looks fantastic. They even painted the crown molding, which wasn't part of the deal. They did a wonderful job of cleaning up, too.

We are awaiting Hurricane Laura. She is supposed to make landfall near the Texas/Louisiana border as a category 4. She is picking up strength as they initially thought she would be a category 1 or 2 at landfall. Some of the low lying parishes are evacuating. A mandatory evacuation of Calcasieu Parish was ordered.
