I hadn't checked by investments lately but once again, now that I have, I'm so pleased at my portfolio performance. My assets (not including home or other possessions) stand at $1.24 million, up about $20,000 since May.
My Vanguard personal performance is a modest (?) 8% since inception, which for me is 2011; at T.  Rowe Price, where I still have 3 funds, my personal performance is about the same, 8.04%.

I feel like lately I have been spending money left and right. I just tallied expenses up and it's not quite as bad as it felt, but still it's $3,464 for the month of June, which is $750 more than I earned! Fortunately, I have a surplus year-to-date in income vs expenses of $3,000. The important thing is to cover the majority of my day-to-day living expenses over the course of the year, so hopefully it will all even out.

Just a quick check-in to say I was notified of my promotion today, and I am over the moon.  I was promoted to the next level and received a $30k increase.  This is more than I was expecting, and I know it is because I advocated for myself.  It goes into effect on Wednesday, and is reflected in my 7/15 paycheck.  I have an idea of what my net pay will be but very excited to get the actual amount so I can start planning, it should be a nice chunk more every check,...

Since the end of the month is coming fast, I started the process to assess my spending categories.  I found I had neglected to record a few things, so my variables are higher than I thought -- 111%, so, 11% over budget.  With only two days left, I think I can keep it there.

So we have been waiting for our taxes to be done...and about 10 days ago it said that it was being processed so we checked over the weekend and now it's saying that they have no info so not sure what is going on...geez just want it over and done with...by the time they get it done will be time to do it again...can't believe it's almost july.
It's pay week this week so it will be nice to pay the bills and start adding to our house saving account again.

This morning, I booked 2 round-trip flights for Mom and me to fly to southern Illinois.  Afterwards, I booked an airbnb.   Why southern Illinois?  My daughter and son-in-law moved there about 1.5 years ago.  Last month, my son and daughter-in-law did the same.  They are all four living in the same small town.  The place I booked is a vacation home on a lake, complete with a hot tub.  We should have a really fun week, just hanging out and...

While I figure out my new longer-term budget and goals, thought I would do some spending snapshot posts, since I am always curious about other people’s day-to-day spending.
 Today I spent about $4.50 at the cafeteria at work for eggs and hash browns for breakfast and a banana I saved for lunch. Brought coffee.

We officially became mortgage free back in April.  It was immediate relief to get the mortgage monkey off of our backs after being house poor and paycheck to paycheck living for too many years.  I wish I could say that I immediate jumped into a different canoe and began paddling upstream toward financial responsibility, but that wasn't the case.

I will try to do a brief MM(17) money update.  I never got around to that.
MM(17) had about $30 left in his checking account.  I guess he estimated pretty darn well (he hasn't worked since last summer).  He also had a $200 IRS refund to deposit.

My first week went well. It's a lot of new information, but I love point of care testing already. It's always interesting. My promotion took effect 2 weeks before I actually started the position. So I had increased pay this week, including holiday pay for working the new Juneteenth holiday. I also had increased contributions to my FSA take effect. My matching TSP contributions increased due to my new base pay.

Retirement has gone up to $58,000.69, a difference of $1136.27 since last payday.  All of that was contributions from DH or work, except $52.27  It was a rough two weeks, but the IRA finished ahead of where it was last payday by $15.31.  I hear the next six weeks are going to be very bumpy for the stock market.  I hope it is just a rumor.
I am really missing the stock market from the 3 years pre-Covid.  I have a feeling the only reason we will be moving...

I made a deposit into the EF, which is a bunch of little things.  I realized that I hadn't added the interest for May which was $3.67 and .07.  I had $18 in rolled coin and then the amount from the paycheck was $162.42 (well, I added .50 that didn't come out of the paycheck, so a touch less).  That equalled out to $184.16 for the deposit

I left Florida on Monday and got home Tuesday evening, 4 weeks to the day that I left. I definitely feel like I accomplished a lot while I was there, but the job isn't 100% done. The plan now is for my wife and I to fly down probably right after July 4th, pack up what remains, and rent a truck to drive home with everything that we're keeping (much of which will ultimately get sold on ebay).

So DH totally screwed up in telling me how much an hour his raise was.  It wasn't $11 an hour, it was $1.10 an hour.  Way to move the decimal point.  And no, he didn't give it to me in print, he literally told me $11 an hour.  So basically none of the stuff I thought was going to happen with retirement or savings is going to happen.  It's a bummer.  Hopefully he will also get a merit raise.  $1.10 an hour doesn't even keep up with how bad the...

My sister and BIL are visiting from Texas for 3 weeks. They are staying with me and we are thoroughly enjoying our time! They are here until just after 4th of July. I was overjoyed when they told us they were going to relocate back to Maryland in just a couple of years. They need to sell some real estate and a business they own in Texas first.

I love paydays....not that they are very exciting but we only need grocery and gas money this week all our bills are paid at begining of the month...but will be able to add to our small savings and make it grow a little more!!
We have menu planned and written out grocery list for what we need for next week or so...will just need to get basics like milk/bread/fruit etc...

I'm back from my weekend trip, but I brought a severe cold home with me!  I have been struggling for several days, but I am finally feeling better.
My trip cost $53, which includes gas, food, and pet care.  I also spent $47 on great buys at Goodwill.  I bought 8 tops, a hoodie and a pair of jeans, also a few housewares, including a brand-new hand mixer.  When I get to feeling better I'm going to weed out the closet and get rid of some older tops to make way...

Today was my first day in my new role at work. The commute to New Orleans is as really easy this morning. Unfortunately when I left - 20 minutes late - it was raining heavily & there were flash flood warnings. Even though, I made not bad time. I came straight to my evening job. This is my last week doing my evening job.

No endoscopy today they will reschedule for july hopefully as i am still to sick to have it done...so hopefully by then I will be okay.
Our US tax check finally cleared today so that $300 plus went into our house account so it is building up slowly again and we get paid this week so can add a little more to our savings. 
They have a big toy sale on right now where you can layaway till christmas (they do it every year) was going to do for a charity we support for foster kids...
