What To Buy During The Day After Christmas Sales

December 24, 2023 by Amanda Blankenship

After Christmas Sales
Many retailers have already begun prepping for the after-Christmas rush. Some of them, like Bath & Body Works, do large annual sales to get rid of the last on their inventory before the end of the year. Others will mark down Christmas decor and other holiday items.

Although many places will be holding an after-holiday sale, not all sales are great deals. Here are a few things you should buy during the day-after-Christmas sale:

Christmas Decor

Because the Christmas season is over many stores will be putting their Christmas decor on sale to get rid of inventory. After all, most of the items will be “out-dated” by next year. If you want to get a head-start for next Christmas season do your decor shipping the day after Christmas. You can get most of the items (ornaments, lights, garland, wrapping paper, bows, etc) for 75 percent off most places. Some retailers are offering even more of a discount than that.

Video Games

Many people received game consoles for Christmas (or even a gift cars) and will want to go grab new video games to play. GameStop, one of the leading video game stores in the nation will be running a 25% to 50% off sales on all popular video games. This deal will be running through the new year.

Electronics

There are many people who wait until the day after Christmas to do their Christmas shopping. In fact, popular items such as phones and cameras will be even cheaper than they were before the holiday. Other popular day-after-Christmas sale items are refurbished products, smartwatches, game consoles and even some older models of the iPhone.

Exercise Gear

The new year is approaching which means folks will be making resolutions. Most of the time these resolutions have to do with exercising more, losing weight or getting healthy. Retailers will be playing to this the day after Christmas and put exercise gear like workout clothing and shoes on sale.

Exercise Equipment

Additionally, exercise equipment will also be going on sale after Christmas. If you have a home gym or you’re planning to start one in the new year the day after Christmas may be the best day to go shopping.

Gym Memberships

If you aren’t going to build a home gym but still want to work out gym memberships will be going on sale the week after Christmas as well. Places like Planet Fitness and other chain gym locations will be offering deals and may even cut the sign-up fee.

Cooking/Baking Materials

Baking season (for many people) is officially over. You’ll be able to snag up Christmas baking items for extremely cheap the day (and week) after Christmas. This can come in handy if you are celebrating Christmas on a separate day or need to bake for a New Year’s get together.

Clothing

Clothing will also be a hot item in the after-Christmas sales. Plenty of people bought clothing as gifts for the holidays but the day after Christmas will provide some great deals on sweaters, outerwear, scarfs, boots and other wintery clothing items. (Don’t forget workout clothes will be on sale too).

Always remember that even if an item is on sale (and a good price) it doesn’t mean that you are saving money. If you never planned on buying the item anyway you are just spending necessary money. When you go out for after-Christmas sales you will want to be sure to have items in mind and stick to your list to save as much money as possible. Happy shopping!

Will you be venturing out for any day-after-Christmas sales?
