Are Credit Unions and Banks Open Veterans Day 2019?

November 5, 2019 by Amanda Blankenship

banks open veterans day

The hustle and bustle of the holiday season is in full swing. Because of that, many people overlook Veterans Day. Although not many people hold celebrations as they do for Thanksgiving or Christmas, some businesses will be closed because it is a federal holiday. If you have the day off, you may be wondering if there are any banks open Veterans Day.

Will Banks Be Open on Veterans Day?

Most banks are closed on Veterans Day. You will find many banks are also closed on Saturday and Sunday, so many people will have to get their banking needs out of the way before end-of-day Friday. However, not all institutions will be closed.

Banks Open Veterans Day

While most banking establishments will close their doors on Monday in observance of Veterans Day, some banks will not. You can expect to find these branches open.

  • TD Bank: All TD Bank branches will be open on Monday.
  • PNC Bank: Some PNC Bank branches located inside retail stores will be open.
  • Suntrust Bank: Branches inside grocery stores or retail stores will be open.

Will Credit Unions Be Open?

Most credit unions are closed on Veterans Day. Credit unions and banks basically run on the same holiday schedule. Regional locations may remain open, however. So, if you bank at a credit union you’ll want to check with them to see if they’ll be open next Monday.

Are Banks Open The Day Before Veterans Day?

Veterans Day actually lands on Monday, November 11 this year. If your bank is usually open on Sunday, you may want to check their hours of operation on Veterans Day weekend. Banks that aren’t normally open on Sunday will remain closed Sunday and Monday. In many cases, this will mean you’ll need to get your banking done on Friday before they close for the weekend. Banks will reopen for regular business hours on Tuesday, November 12.

Banking Options

Most banks and credit unions will be closed on Monday, November 11, in observance of Veterans Day. That doesn’t mean that you won’t be able to do any banking though. In fact, few customers even visit their bank’s branch these days. You can perform most of your banking online, through an app, or the ATM.

Deposits and withdrawals can be made at ATMs. Most banks also have the ability to accept mobile check deposits through their phone app as well. Any bill payments you need to make can also be done online.

It is important to note that although these banking transactions will still be available, some transactions will not post until the next banking day. Normally, these transactions will take a day longer than usual to process because of the holiday. Any bill payments scheduled for that day will not be processed until the following business day.
