How to Get a Free iPhone

July 18, 2016 by Chonce

How to Get a Free iPhone
The iPhone is no doubt one of the most popular smartphones of our time and to date. If you don’t own one, you literally can’t walk into a room and not see someone with an iPhone these days. While these phones are widely used and very popular they are also very expensive as well. An iPhone 6 can cost anywhere from $200-600+ depending on where you purchase it, whether it’s brand new or refurbished, and which cell phone company you have.

Nevertheless, that’s a lot of money to spend on a phone and it’s no wonder why some people are wondering if they can outsmart the system and legally obtain a free iPhone.

Getting a free iPhone is not easy, but there are a few legitimate options you can consider.

Review and Test an iPhone

It’s true, some companies will offer you free merchandise in order to test and review products. Products Testing USA is a company that I’ve been keeping an eye on.

On their website, they claim that you can apply to test certain products and have them shipped to your home. Once you receive and test the product, you need to write a review and then you can keep the product for free. According to their website, product Testing USA abides by a no spam policy and the Data Protection Act. They offer a wide variety of products to test including the iPhone 6, but they do not guarantee that everyone will be chosen to test a product.

Here is a resource on legitimate product testing companies that you might want to take a look at. Plus, the author mentions her experience with Product Testing USA.

Another option you could consider is contacting Apple yourself to see if they offer a similar deal like a focus group or allow people to test new iPhone products while they are in the beta stage in order to keep them for free.

Enter a Contest to Win an iPhone

There are quite a few contests out there promising to give away a free iPhone to the winner. I found one contest that is currently going on for iMore.com. They seem to run a lot of similar contents but whether or not it truly works is anyone’s guess.

Even if these contests are legit, you’d still be competing against hundreds or thousands of other people for one prize. But if you really want a free iPhone and the entry form is not prompting you to take surveys, or asking you lots of personal questions that make you feel skeptical, you may not have much to lose.

I read somewhere that Apple does not prefer 3rd party companies offer giveaways for their products so again, I’d go straight to the source and see if Apple offers any special giveaways for their customers.

Utilize an Offer with Your Cell Phone Company

One of the safest ways to score a free iPhone is my opinion, is to see what offers your cell phone company is offering. If you have Sprint, Verizon, AT&T or another major cell phone provider, they may be offering a buy-one-get-one-free iPhone offer or may offer you a free iPhone if you sign a contract with them.

Many cell phone providers allow customers to finance an iPhone if their credit is good. So while you initially may but $0 down and walk away with an iPhone, you may have to make payments afterward each month to pay off the price of the phone.

If you and a friend both want a new iPhone, see if they can take advantage of the BOGO deal AT&T or a similar provider is offering split the price of one iPhone so that you can receive another one for free and you both will have a new phone without paying full price.

How Not to Get a Free iPhone

It’s no secret that there are tons of scams out there online. I’m going to be completely honest and say that most ‘free iPhone’ offers and opportunities you see online will most likely be scams. If getting a free iPhone was so easy, everyone would have one.

Things to watch out for are companies who will ask you to sign up for offers, fill out surveys, and share information like your address, credit card number, etc. in order to be considered for a free iPhone. These companies are most likely trying to steal your information. Plus, their websites are probably not even safe.

It’s important to thoroughly do your research, check out companies on the BBB, look for real reviews from other people who have tried it out, and be aware of all the warning signs. Also, consider getting a discounted iPhone as opposed to engaging in risky online activities in the hopes of scoring a phone for free.
