  • Is anyone actually making information products?

Guys - so I'm always on the lookout for truly passive ways to make income.

Has anyone here considered making information products? Like Udemy courses, or the like?

This idea comes up in the lists a lot, but I never hear people actually talking about it.

It can be crazy insane how much training material can sell for. The dvd's that the fire department used to train us on fire extinguishers, I think they said was $10k. But there isn't a lot of demand for it.

SDI is the company I am using for the scuba certification, they had some really great material on the online portion.

Reading for audio books might be another possibility.

I guess my point is there is a huge demand out there for all sorts of training courses and I've seen some good ones and some bad ones.

Is it personal finance classes you're considering creating or something else?

Posting feet pics on OF? People will do anything for a buck that doesn't require a lot of effort these days.
      History will judge the complicit.

Anything niche commands a high price.
We have tons of required trainings here for ISO and OSHA compliance and all if it has a high price tag.

Fire extinguishers, lithium battery handling, soldering, etc.

One of the things I've learned that resells for good money is specialty DVDs like craft and hobby instructional stuff. I just sold one last night - a painting technique DVD. I bought a bunch of them (all different) for $1 each and have sold all but a couple for $10.95 each. A couple of years ago I bought a set of 10 woodworking DVDs about how to make your own pool cues. Paid $10. Sold for $200 (and that was used - brand new from the creator they're more than double that amount).

Today, it's probably more people making YouTube videos or other social media content that they can monetize. If you have a skill or hobby that you can film instructional content for, that's a way to generate income. It's not passive, of course, since you need to produce the content, but once it's done and posted, you can continue to generate income from it indefinitely.
