Making money from people all over the world

I'm interested to learn about crowdfunding and fundraising. I heard that in order to do something like that, you must need a "cause" and reason for doing it. Can you share me your experience in doing this stuff? I'd like to try it for a good cause, like helping other people who needs money and support more than we all do. If there are any specific crowdfunding websites that you think may support my cause, feel free to tell me what are they also. Thanks guys!

Fundraising

I believe fundraising is for a "cause" that needs those funds. This is not money for ourselves but for the cause. If there are people who use a "cause" to make money for themselves, that is straight fraud. Therefore these days one must be careful where he/she donates his/her money.

I have only given for a cause. Lots of medical funds etc. I did see one recently on the news where someone raised $1000 to sky dive with a burrito in Chicago. Odd!
